🌙 Whooooo’s ready for one of our most popular events of the year? 🦉

🌕 Join us for a HOOT of a time during Owl Evenings, returning for two weekends in July only!

🦉 A beautiful and rare sight, owls are mysterious and silent hunters of the night that have fascinated people throughout history. We welcome you to come and learn all about these mesmerizing raptors through a special flying demonstration. This will be an exciting opportunity to get closer to owls and better understand some of the species commonly found throughout British Columbia.

Happy Meet the Beak Monday!! ⭐️

Each Monday we shine a spotlight on some of the amazing feathered friends that reside at our centre! This week, we are meeting Wilbur!

Wilbur is a 7 year old Peregrine Falcon! Wilbur has worked with our team of humans across Canada doing wildlife management, and he is truly an expert at his job! It is breathtaking watching Wilbur fly. He works hard to gain height to then stoop down towards shorebirds who may be hanging out in undesirable locations, such as a runway at an airport. Wilbur also has such a wonderful personality, it is hard to not fall in love with him! 🤍

A parliament of owls! 🦉

There’s a new friend in the flock! If you have been following along or visited us before, you may have met our two resident Spectacled Owls who have lived with us for many years, Elton and Inspector. We also excited to have just recently completed their new aviary, where these wonderful owls get to enjoy all the sunshine.

In the last few months, another lovely owl friend came to join us who is fitting in perfectly! Welcome Cortez! ✨🫶🏼

🏆 Watch out FIFA World Cup, Kyle is in the house! ⚽️

This 25 inch tall, 950 gram up-and-coming athlete is ready for his big debut in the sports world. Kyle excels with his speed and impressive beak-to-ball handling skills, making him a force to be reckoned with. He never stops cawing encouragement to the rest of his team, showcasing his true team spirit and sportsmanship. ⚽️ 🥅

It’s Meet the Beak Monday! ✨

Each Monday we shine a spotlight on some of the amazing feathered friends that reside at our facility 🤍 This Monday, we are meeting Oscar!

Oscar is a 1 year old Great Horned Owl. Oscar is a bird that can often be met during our Flying Demonstrations or during a scheduled talk at our centre! During his flying sessions, he is notorious for doing exactly as he pleases- often choosing to ignore our trainers to do his own flight routine 😆 In his short life so far, Oscar is also a film star and has spent time on a movie set- all he had to do was be himself! Oscar is quite the character and a joy to work with every day🤍

It’s moulting season! 🪶

Moulting is an energetically expensive process birds go through, when they drop their old or worn feathers to make way for new ones. Spring and summer are often a great time for moulting so birds don’t have to expend extra energy warming themselves while they have a few less feathers. 🪶
