🏠 Applicant FAQ: How do I set up an account on the Applicant Portal?

New applicants can create an Applicant Portal account using your email address and a password of your choice. In the future, you will use this email to login to the Portal.

If you already have an application on file with Civida, you can login to the Applicant Portal using the email addres on your account. If you do not have an email on file, you’ll need to contact Civida to provide your current email address and receive a Civida application code before creating your account.

🍂 Get Your Home Ready for Colder Weather

As temperatures start to drop, a few simple steps can help prevent frozen pipes and keep your home safe:

• Outdoor taps: Shut off outdoor taps and drain lines to help prevent frozen pipes.
• Window wells: Keep them clear of dirt, debris, and objects to allow proper drainage. Report any issues to your District Office.
• Keep warm: Set your thermostat to at least 18°C, even when you’re away.
• Keep heaters clear: Keep furniture, curtains, and belongings away from heating vents and baseboard heaters. Turn off portable heaters when leaving home.

Through community collaborations, AIWCC creates programs and promotes opportunities that build connections to support healthy and vibrant communities.

At Sakaw I, they offer employment programs, language programs, settlement programs, women empowerment, youth programs, family counselling, case management and halal food hampers and are a community resource hub.

When people have a stable home, more becomes possible.

Malynda first heard about Civida through word of mouth during a difficult time in her life. Seven years later, Malynda calls Civida home and shares that home with her daughter.

"From where I started to where am I now? I didn't think I was going to make it that far. You know, you're always looking over your shoulder or something like that, and now I don't have to. And I tell you, if you are where I was, you're going to be okay".

More than shelter, a safe and stable home can create space for people to move forward and feel hopeful about what comes next.

Today, we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

As part of our continued commitment to learning and reconciliation, Civida's EDI Committee is partnering with Turtle Medicine Agency to bring Blanket Exercises to Civida. These sessions provide an opportunity for our team to learn more about Indigenous history and the lasting impacts of residential schools.

September 30 is a time to listen, learn and reflect on the past and what reconciliation means in the work we do and the communities we serve.
