CEASE team came together for a movie afternoon focused on learning more about human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and the experiences of survivors.
We watched Butterfly: In the Maze of Human Trafficking, a Canadian documentary that shares the stories of three women impacted by trafficking and their journeys toward healing and recovery. The film sparked important conversations about grooming, trauma bonds, exploitation, and resilience.
We also viewed High Class, a documentary that explores the realities behind Las Vegas' es**rt industry and highlights how violence, control, and exploitation can exist beneath the surface of what is often portrayed as glamour and choice.
Finally, we watched Paradise Highway, a film that highlights the trafficking of a young girl and reminds us that children and youth are often targeted by traffickers. The story underscored the vulnerability of young people, the devastating impact of exploitation, and the importance of prevention, protection, and community awareness.
These films challenged us to think critically, deepened our understanding of exploitation, and reinforced our commitment to supporting survivors and reducing demand for sexual exploitation.
