Today, ATU Canada President John Di Nino, our Executive Board, and every one of our ATU Delegates stood together on the floor of the Canadian Labour Congress Convention to move our policy calling on the Government of Canada to establish permanent, predictable, and dedicated operating funding for our public transit.

Our ATU transit professionals keep this country moving 150 million rides a month. What Canadians deserve is a federal government that treats public transit as the vital infrastructure it is, not a funding afterthought.

This resolution passed. Our ATU Canada members made that happen.

For 114 years our integrated Fire & EMS service has protected the people of Lethbridge. We rush to do chest compressions after cardiac events, we pull children out of car crashes, and we put our lives on the line for complete strangers.
Council was slated to make a decision yesterday (Tuesday May 5) regarding dismantling a system that's saved lives for more than a century. After nearly two hours of meeting behind closed doors, without the public watching, Council returned and voted to postpone this decision for one week, to May 12th.
Your voice has made a difference, Lethbridge. We have another week to tell City council that Lethbridge is home to the best integrated Fire & EMS service in North America. Another week to tell council to keep their campaign promises and prioritize public safety. Hands off our integrated Fire & EMS Service. Cost cutting will cost lives.

🚨 FINAL DAY TO SPEAK UP, LETHBRIDGE🚨
Tomorrow, Tuesday May 5th, City Council could vote to dismantle Lethbridge’s 114-year-old Integrated Fire & EMS system. If this happens, response times will increase and lives will be put at risk. Cost cutting costs lives.
For roughly $10/month per household, we can protect a system that has served this city for more than a century. We can keep a system that is envied by cities across this country, a system that saves lives every single day. Is your life worth more than $10/month?
⏰ TODAY is your last chance to contact Mayor Hyggen and City Council before the final vote Tuesday afternoon.
