Investing in leadership is a priority at the Regina Police Service. Last week, officers and civilian professionals from RPS joined counterparts from police services across the province at a leadership event put on by Sask. Women in Policing - SWIP and the Regina Police Service PRIME Leadership team.

Attendees heard from community partners, academic leaders and former police officers who shared their experiences, leadership journeys and perspectives on the importance of leadership in the workplace and within our community.

RPS is proud to support the professional development of our sworn and civilian members, while creating opportunities to grow, lead and advance in their careers.

Last week, 16 participants graduated from the Treaty 4 Citizens’ Police Academy - an immersive two-week program designed to give participants a firsthand look at life as a law enforcement recruit. Participants live on campus, just as the Saskatchewan Police College recruits do, take part in hands-on training, and gain valuable insight into a career in policing and public safety. The program also allows participants to complete the first three stages of the application process required by most law enforcement agencies.

This unique experience is an incredible opportunity to build confidence, leadership skills, and a deeper understanding of policing.

The Treaty 4 Citizens’ Police Academy is open to Indigenous applicants 18 years or older. We'll be adding new recruits to the academy next spring!

Treaty 4 Citizens’ Police Academy is back. We have 16 amazing recruits this year from all over the province learning about a career in policing and community safety.

From drill practice (marching) to a visit from the RPS Canine Unit to settling into the dorms and more - it’s been an exciting first couple of days!
