Building a safer, more inclusive Saskatoon starts with listening, learning, and continuing to strengthen how we serve our community.

Last week, Saskatoon Police Service members participated in specialized Hate Crimes training delivered through the Saskatchewan Police College. The session was facilitated by Stephen Camp, Project Director of the Hate Crime Centre at the Organization for the Prevention of Violence.

This training supports SPS members in recognizing, responding to, and investigating hate-motivated incidents and crimes with care, professionalism, and informed practice.

In late 2025, Saskatoon Police Constable Chris Martin made a life-changing decision: he donated a kidney to a friend.

His generosity inspired the Saskatoon Police Service to become the first police service in North America to join the Kidney Foundation of Canada’s Living Donor Circle of Excellence program.

The Living Donor Circle of Excellence program recognizes employers that help remove financial barriers for members who choose to become living organ donors by providing wage replacement or other financial support during recovery.

The Saskatoon Police Service is proud of Cst. Martin for continuing to be the difference in our community and reflecting the values that guide our service.

Today, the SPS is honoured to join the Circle of Excellence and hope our participation encourages other employers to support living organ donors and join the program.

The SPS Warrant Enforcement Unit is requesting assistance in locating Carolyn Sutherland.

On October 2nd, 2026 police were called to the 200 block of Avenue V South, for a report that a pregnant woman had been bear sprayed. Carolyn Sutherland has been identified as the suspect in this assault and a warrant has been issued for her arrest. She is charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Carolyn Sutherland are asked to call 9-1-1 or 306-975-8300. Anyone wishing to provide information but remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers Saskatoon at 1-800-222-8477.
