Darker mornings are on the way, making it harder for drivers to see pedestrians and cyclists, especially children and youth on their way to school. We're asking drivers to do their part by slowing down, staying alert, and taking extra care at crosswalks and intersections. Together, we can help keep everyone safe.

This message also extends to youth who ride e-bikes or e-scooters to school. Parents and guardians, please take the time to talk with your young riders about safe riding practices, the rules of the road, and the importance of being aware of their surroundings. Operating an e-bike or e-scooter comes with significant responsibility, not only for their own safety but also for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists, and everyone else sharing our roads and pathways. These conversations are especially important as darker mornings make it harder for all road users to see and be seen.

A special tradition is growing at École John Stubbs!

Three years ago, the school began hosting the Langford Legion Veterans’ Tea, and they have come back every year since.

This morning, 12 Legion members joined students to share stories, artifacts, medals, maps, and photographs from their time in service. Students had the opportunity to ask questions, and Veterans were just as eager to learn from the students!

These meaningful conversations create a special connection between generations, bringing history to life and building understanding, respect, and appreciation.

A big thank you to the Veterans who shared their time with students today.

The transition to permanent daylight saving time means darker mornings during the winter months.

As we head into the winter season, it's a great time for parents and caregivers to have conversations with children and youth about staying safe on our roads. Whether walking, biking, or driving, understanding how changing daylight conditions can affect visibility is an important part of keeping ourselves and others safe.

Taking a few moments to talk about road safety can help children and youth build awareness, make safer choices, and feel more confident navigating their communities.
