**Urgent update from Bovis / Western Power**

Temporary closure of Charlton Boulevard in order to connect electric mains supply on the 6th -7th of February between 9am-3pm – see attached drawing.

“We have tried every possible way to avoid this but this is the only way we can get LC2 block connected to electric mains supply is by having to have a road crossing and connecting on the north corner of Charlton Square.”

We will update if we receive any further information.

Planning Application P20/00962/TRE

We would like to point out that we do need residents to appeal / add comments directly to SGC via their planning site, as they will be the only ones SGC will 'recognise' as the deadline for comments is in 10 days!

https://developments.southglos.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=Q45QJBOKIVP00&fbclid=IwAR1QQvTsyb4XYdsAr4C06KHDq8L7JMwwGZLdcvuWOQpzv-k2lnUyvnGVt74

Also a local resident has setup a petition on the planning application to remove the ash trees with some robust research and would suggest a moment to review this one as well;

*Tree Line Update - P20/00962/TRE

Many of you may of noticed posts on other pages regarding the planning application to cut down long standing trees along the green spine / Hammond Road due to some of the trees being infected with Ash dieback (Chalara), the current proposal by SGC / Bovis is to remove these grand trees from the green spine.

This evening local residents & ReACH with support from local councillor Jo Buddharaju met with South Gloucester representative who carried out the survey to understand and view on site the proposal.

Many concerns have been raised and talked at length possible solutions and ideas, especially the concern around future maintenance and care of the trees - currently the responsibility of Bovis, and will be until the last residential unit is sold (anticipated to be mid 2021) which then will be automatically transferred to an Estate Management Company who will then be responsible for the trees and for landscaping etc.

Meetings in SGC are scheduled for tomorrow and ReACH are scheduling talks with SGC, Bovis & Management companies this week along with working with residents to put forward any concerns.

Jo Buddharaju is kindly driving concerns also via the council and making sure Charlton Hayes voices are being represented.

We are also aware some petitions and surveys are being run and would encourage residents to take part if they so wish, especially and most important raise your concerns on the Southglos application website via link below;

https://developments.southglos.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=Q45QJBOKIVP00

Towards the end of the week we would hope to collate all the information and discussion points to provide a more robust update on this issue.

Our statement below relates to the temporary closure of two police stations last night due to a detainee falling ill.

Please be assured this is not linked to the much-publicised novel coronavirus and there is no risk to the public.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

At just before 7pm on Wednesday 22 January, staff at the custody unit at Patchway Police Centre became aware of a detainee displaying flu-like symptoms. There were initial concerns that the detainee, a Chinese national, may have had contact with people who had recently travelled from the Wuhan area of China.

Following precautionary advice from the NHS and health practitioners, Patchway Police Centre was temporarily closed along with Trinity Road Police Station in Bristol, where officers involved in the arrest had travelled to. As well as the officers and members of police staff, there was one member of the public at Trinity Road Police Station, who was asked to remain in the building as a precaution while we sought further advice.

Following expert advice from Public Health England, it was established this was not a case of the much-publicised novel coronavirus and both stations were fully re-opened at just after midnight. The detainee has been given the appropriate medical attention and remains in custody at this time.

All those involved in this incident have been given up-to-date advice from Public Health England and we’d like to thank the member of the public for their patience and understanding while we took this precautionary action. We’d like to assure our communities there is no risk to the public.

Overnight closure of Gipsy Patch Lane tonight (23rd/24th Jan)

South Gloucestershire Council has announced that Gipsy Patch Lane will be closed at the railway bridge to all road users between 10pm on Thursday 23rd January and 2am on Friday 24th January (approximately four hours). Access will be maintained to Pegasus Park and Gifford Crescent. Station Road remains closed at its junction with Gipsy Patch Lane.

A two-way signed diversion route will be in place and will take motorists along Bradley Stoke Way and the A38. Network Rail and their contractors Alun Griffiths will provide an on-demand shuttle service for any pedestrians or cyclists needing to travel under the railway bridge during this temporary closure.

The closure is needed as part of the ongoing piling work that is taking place in preparation for the bridge replacement, which is part of the Cribbs Patchway MetroBus Extension (CPME) project.
