: The King got a glimpse of the UK's future armoured capability. 👑 🇬🇧 💪

During his first visit as Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Tank Regiment, His Majesty The King took to the commander's seat of a Challenger 2 tank and viewed the new Challenger 3 Main Battle Tank at The Tank Museum in Bovington.

It's great to see His Majesty taking a keen interest in the equipment the National Armaments Director Group, part of the Ministry of Defence, are procuring for our Armed Forces. A fantastic reminder of why our work matters.

Two outstanding contributions to Defence recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours 2026.🏅

Our colleagues, Richard and Phillip have been awarded the prestigious Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), recognising distinguished achievement or service.

🌟Typhoon Future Support Deputy Head Group Captain, Richard Cameron, has been recognised for his exceptional leadership of the Reaper and Protector programmes. Under his leadership, the team delivered the first certified uncrewed aircraft in UK Defence ahead of schedule and within budget.

🌟Captain Phillip Burgess RN Engineer has been recognised for his contribution to the NAD Core Maritime Type 26 programme, helping to reshape the approach to shipbuilding and driving a new vision for how major naval programmes are delivered.

They are just two of the people named in this year’s Honours List who have made a real difference across logistics, maritime, land and air. Their dedication is what the honours system is designed to celebrate – remarkable service, achievement and commitment.

Congratulations to all those recognised👏 Full list: https://des.mod.uk/king-s-birthday-honours-for-nad-group-colleagues/

Skill, passion and purpose - that's what builds Royal Navy warships. 🚢 💪

Last week, our National Armaments Director Rupert Pearce and Director General Materiel Anna-Lee Reilly visited BAE Systems in Scotstoun and Babcock International Group in Rosyth to see first-hand the progress being made on the Type 26 and Type 31 programmes.

From HMS Glasgow and HMS Cardiff to HMS Venturer and HMS Bulldog, it was impressive to see the dedication and skill of the teams working on ships that will define our maritime capability for decades to come.

We look forward to continuing to work closely with the skilled and talented experts at BAE, Babcock and all the SMEs across the supply chain that are bringing these programmes to life.

🏆 Huge congratulations to our Policy and Oversight team, who have been crowned Quality Team of the Year at the Chartered Quality Institute’s International Quality Awards.

Competing against entries from 37 countries, the team earned this recognition by delivering real, transformational change. The team built a system that brings together process ownership, risk management, assurance and continuous improvement across the organisation.

A truly remarkable achievement and a proud moment for everyone involved. Well done team. 👏

Andy's dedication to serving has earned him a British Empire Medal in the King's Honours 2026, recognising over 40 years of commitment to the defence, veterans, Royal National Lifeboat Institution, and maritime safety. 🚤

Alongside his role as Technical Support Gateway Engineer within our Airseeker Delivery Team, he has volunteered for more than 13 years with the RNLI, undertaking a variety of sea-going operational roles and contributing to vital lifesaving and maritime safety efforts.

Andy is a Yeoman of the King's Bodyguard, and also volunteers with the Armed Forces Major Engagement Team (AFMET) in Cleethorpes, helping to deliver the Armed Forces Covenant across Northeast Lincolnshire.

His achievements demonstrate how service outside the day-to-day role can make a meaningful difference and highlights the value of going above and beyond!

Congratulations, Andy! 👏
