45% fewer storm overflow spills by 2030.

That's the SODRP target — Storm Overflows Discharge Reduction Plan.

The number gets the headlines. Getting there depends on something far less glamorous: whether the monitoring data behind it can actually be trusted.

Continuous level monitoring.
Defensible audit trails.
Evidence that holds up when the Environment Agency comes asking.

That's the unglamorous hard work sitting underneath a target everyone's watching.

If you could change one thing to make gathering that data easier, what would it be?

What’s the longest you’ve kept an instrument running?

At Sandhurst Instruments Ltd, we love hearing updates from customers about how our equipment is performing. Recently, we were reminded that some of our depth transmitters have been installed and operating reliably for more than 20 years.

Now, we can’t promise every unit will last that long – no two sites or operating conditions are exactly the same. But these stories are a testament to the care that goes into designing and building every Sandhurst instrument.

We don’t cut corners on materials or build quality, because we know our customers need instrumentation they can count on, year in, year out.

Huge thanks to everyone who’s shared their long-term performance stories with us – it means a lot.

Yesterday we were at Southern Water site Worlds End, demonstrating our LH176-Microprocessor, and it was great to see the level of interest this instrument continues to generate.

The LH176-M is becoming increasingly popular across the UK water industry, with two major water companies now having standardised on the technology. We're also seeing growing interest from other utilities, which is a strong endorsement of the instrument's performance, reliability and ease of use in the field.

A big thank you to the Southern Water team for hosting us and for the opportunity to showcase the capabilities of the LH176-M.

It's exciting to see momentum building as more water companies recognise the benefits of accurate, dependable monitoring solutions.

We’re really pleased to see continued momentum building for the LH176 Microprocessor.
Portsmouth Water has now standardised the LH176 M across its operations, marking a significant step forward in wider adoption of the system.
Last week we also completed a successful demonstration with Wessex Water, who have indicated they will be rolling the LH176 M out across their sites!

It’s great to see increasing confidence in the product across the sector, and we’re looking forward to supporting further deployments and continued rollout.

We’re pleased to share the following testimonial regarding our newest instrument the LH176 Microprocessor, which has recently been standardised by Portsmouth Water, with other water companies now following suit.

Portsmouth Water testimonial
‘’The Sandhurst Instruments microprocessor rescaling unit proved to be a reliable and practical solution during its use at several of our service reservoirs and borehole across our distribution region, where it was used in conjunction the LH176-M Depth Transmitter. The unit allowed for straightforward rescaling of the transmitters enabling accurate level monitoring without the need for complex logistical interruptions to process. Setup was intuitive, with clear parameter configuration that reduced commissioning time on site. Once installed, the device provided stable and consistent output, which is obviously critical for maintaining confidence in borehole abstraction levels and ensuring compliance with operational and regulatory requirements.
From an end user perspective, the team have found the software interface easy to navigate and the general operation of all components in conjunction with our calibration unit, extremely easy to get to grips with. It’s been especially beneficial for our apprentices to use for their continued learning and on the job development Overall, the Sandhurst rescaling unit represents a dependable and efficient addition to instrumentation setups, supporting both accurate data acquisition and ease of maintenance for field technicians.’’

Technical Team Leader
Portsmouth Water

It’s incredibly rewarding to see our work recognised in this way by leading organisations within the water industry. Portsmouth Water’s decision to standardise this instrument reflects the reliability, accuracy, and practicality we aim to deliver across all our solutions.
We’re grateful for their trust and ongoing collaboration, and encouraged to see wider adoption beginning across the sector.
At Sandhurst Instruments, we remain committed to developing robust, industry-focused instrumentation that meets the evolving needs of water utilities.
