Some children are already back at school. Others have one final Friday before the uniforms come out.

Somewhere, a carefully labelled water bottle is already missing.

However your first week of September looks, Canonteign Kitchen is ready with coffee, homemade cake and lunch you did not have to make.

If the children are still with you, enjoy those five unusually quiet minutes when the food reaches the table.

If they are back at school, enjoy the fact that nobody has asked you for a snack for at least an hour.

The café and shop are free to visit, with free parking.
Which camp are you in this Friday, first quiet coffee or one final family lunch?

Most lakes have ducks. Swan Lake has a dinosaur keeping watch.

More than 200 years ago, around the time Canonteign House was built in 1816, black swans were introduced from Australia and made this lake their home.

The swans no longer live here, but the name Swan Lake stayed.

Our green dinosaur has overlooked the lake for quite some time. It blends into the gardens so well that you may have walked straight past it without noticing.

Did you spot it on your last visit, or will you be looking for it next time?

Everyone was certain they had found every hedgehog.
The empty box on the trail sheet said otherwise.

Somewhere around Canonteign, one final hedgehog is still hiding with the missing letter. Now the family has one very important decision to make.

Who is going back to find it?

There are only a few days left to take on Hattie Hedgehog’s Secret Word Trail and solve the mystery for yourself.

There is one family title still up for grabs this summer.
The Canonteign archery champion.

Today is your final summer chance to settle it, with Wild Wood Archery here from 10.30am to 3.30pm.

There is no separate archery booking. Simply arrive, choose six arrows for £5 or twelve for £9 and take your shot.

Will it be skill, luck or one surprisingly competitive grandparent?

Day admission applies unless you are visiting with a Canonteign Falls membership or free return.

Somebody wants the waterfall walk.
The children have already decided on the playgrounds.
Someone else has quietly suggested starting with coffee.

Your family gets one first stop. Which one wins?
