The Suffragettes are on the march again, but only for one weekend!
I’ll be joining the incredible cast of reenactors at Celebration of the Centuries, Fort George, where history comes alive from Romans to Redcoats… and yes, the women who fought for the vote!

Come along and meet the Suffragettes as we bring early 20th‑century activism to life with banners, sashes, and plenty of spirited determination. It’s all part of a huge multi‑era event packed with colour, noise, and centuries of stories.

If you’re heading to Fort George near Inverness tomorrow, keep an eye out, we’ll be raising our voices once more for VOTES FOR WOMEN! 💜🤍💚

Meet the Suffragettes at Fort George This Weekend!

Step back into the fight for women’s right to vote as our suffragettes bring history to life at Celebration of the Centuries in Fort George, near Inverness.

Our suffragettes will be strolling throughout the day, sharing stories of the fight for women’s right to vote. Catch their presentations at 13:10 and 15:30 on both days.

Explore historic camps spanning centuries of Scottish history, from medieval warriors to Jacobite rebels and beyond.

A brilliant day out for families, history lovers, and anyone who enjoys immersive storytelling.
Event runs from 11:00–17:00.

Minding the weans! Step into the royal apartments at Stirling Castle today and meet Christine Baxter, who’ll be sharing the fascinating world of 16th‑century childcare. Discover how children’s clothing revealed their family’s status, why little ones wore diapers rather than nappies, and whether a child was raised with a silver spoon or simple ash.

Two Scottish legends have descended on the Wardlaw Museum in St Andrews today, Mary Queen of Scots and Oor Wullie (Prince Wullie himself!), perched proudly on his majesterial throne… the Scoatish Pale!

Come meet them, along with Mary’s cook, carver, musician and gowf maister between 12 and 4pm.
Free entry, free activities, and fantastic fun for bairns and grown ups alike.

Meet the fletcher at Linlithgow Palace between 10am and 4pm today, working with the same tools and techniques his predecessors used centuries ago. Ash shafts, goose feathers, careful hands, and a practiced eye, every arrow a reminder that Scotland’s past wasn’t just lived by kings, but crafted by skilled makers whose work kept households, hunts, and armies moving.
