Haverigg Inshore Rescue Team An independent charity providing a vital year round lifesaving service, rescuing those in need around the Duddon coastline. To date H.I.R.T.

The organisation is manned entirely by volunteers from the local communities of Haverigg, Millom and the surrounding area working closely with the local Coastguard. volunteers have been called out over 300 times and assisted over 200 people in difficulty at sea. Haverigg Inshore Rescue Team were paged today along with Millom coastguard rescue team to assist Police with a missing person in the area.

This incident resulted in being stood down as the person was found.

If you find yourself or anyone else in difficulty at sea or on the Coast, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
