Today is International Potato Day, originated by the UN to highlight the nutritional, economic, cultural and environmental values of the potato.

Born on this day in Tring in 1828 Gerald Massey became a respected Victorian poet and author. As a boy he worked in the town's Silk Mill from the age of seven until the factory suffered a serious fire. Later as a writer he explored Spiritualism and Ancient Egypt. During local history month why not call into the Library and learn more about Tring personalities.

On Tuesday 9th June, 4-5pm, we have an exciting and empowering session for 7-11 year olds. It takes place in both the national Empathy week and also the library's Hi-Vis fortnight, when we highlight our resources for visually impaired customers - so we will have lots of fun resources and activities with an Empathy and Vision theme! Places are limited, call in and sign up.

We have a super display in the library with photographs from Wigginton village supplied by Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies (HALS). Come along and have a look at the display which will be here for a few more days.
