Ghana Export Promotion Authority

Ghana Export Promotion Authority The National TPO mandated to Develop and Promote the Non-Trad. Export sector.

The Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) was established by NLCD 369 in 1969 as an agency of the Ministry of Trade and Industry with the mandate to develop and promote Ghanaian exports. Our focus has primarily been to diversify Ghana’s export base from the traditional export products of Gold, Cocoa Beans, Timber Logs and Lumber and Electricity. Currently there are over 400 different Non-Traditional Export products categorised as Agricultural, Processed/Semi Processed and Handicrafts. Export Trade in Services is a new and recent addition to the Ghanaian portfolio. GEPA has a clientele base of over 3000 registered private sector exporting companies organised into 17 Product Associations. GEPC relates to her clients both on individual corporate basis and as groups/associations. GEPA is positioned in the national export system as the coordinating pivot for the various public and private sector trade agencies involved in export trade development and facilitation. GEPA acts as an interface between these bodies and the over 3000 clientele. GOAL
To ensure that export trade contributes to accelerated economic growth through strategically aggressive marketing of Made-in-Ghana products in the competitive global economy.

As part of his working visit to the Western Region, the CEO of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), Francis Kojo Kwarteng Arthur Esq., paid a working visit to the Western Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Nelson, to explore practical opportunities for collaboration between GEPA and the Western Regional Coordinating Council.

The engagement is firmly aligned with H.E. John Dramani Mahama’s Reset Agenda, the 24-Hour Economy, and Government’s drive to accelerate Ghana’s export growth.

From the Western Region’s rich natural resources and industrial base to its emerging businesses and export potential, the focus is clear: identify opportunities, build productive capacity, add value and take more Ghanaian products to global markets.

GEPA is advancing the Accelerated Export Development Programme while working closely with strategic partners including the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA), Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) and Ghana EXIM Bank to create a more coordinated export ecosystem.

Through initiatives such as One District, One Exportable Product, GEPA is also working to identify and develop products with export potential in districts across Ghana.

For the Western Region, this means turning its economic strengths into jobs, investment, productive enterprises and increased export earnings, with the 24-Hour Economy providing an important framework for expanding production and economic activity.

Ghana’s over US$5 billion in Non-Traditional Export earnings in 2025 demonstrates what Ghanaian businesses can achieve when the right opportunities and support systems are in place.

The question is: What exportable product from the Western Region can become Ghana’s next global success story?
