MUDs Retrofitting Training Videos Available on YouTube!

Practical training videos to support retrofitting apartment buildings are now available on the Housing Agency's YouTube channel.

What you’ll find in the training videos:
- Real life case studies
- Expert presentations and guidance on topics, ranging from financing and grant supports, to governance and stakeholder engagement
- Practical insights from EU-supported research

Resources aim to clarify key issues, and provide practical guidance.

They are designed to help owners of apartment buildings to navigate the complexities of retrofitting their developments.

A look back at the 2026 MUDs Networking and Information Meetings series.

Last Friday, we welcomed researchers, policymakers and housing practitioners for a day of insightful presentations, discussions and knowledge-sharing on housing research in Ireland.

Through a series of plenary sessions and workshops, attendees explored a range of topics including housing inclusion, systems thinking, data-driven policymaking, housing tenure and future research priorities.

A big thank you to all our speakers, panellists and attendees for their valuable contributions and for making the seminar such an engaging and informative event.

Today, The Housing Agency launched the latest findings from its National Study of Housing Experiences, Attitudes and Aspirations in Ireland, coinciding with our New Housing Research Seminar taking place in Dublin.

The study found that almost nine in 10 (88%) people are satisfied or very satisfied with their home, while 89% are satisfied with their neighbourhood. Satisfaction levels are significantly higher among homeowners with 63% of them ‘very satisfied’ with their home compared to only 32% of renters. However, a strong majority of both owners and renters were either ‘very satisfied’ of ‘satisfied’ (91% of owners, 82% of renters).

Now in its fifth round, the study, which began in 2018 aims to better understand householders’ housing situations and aspirations. The latest findings are based on face-to-face interviews with more than 1,200 householders aged 18 and over, conducted by Ipsos B&A.

Commenting on the findings, Martin Whelan, CEO of The Housing Agency, said:
“Our rolling study continues to show high levels of satisfaction among people with both their homes and their neighbourhoods. However, householders are also facing challenges when it comes to heating and the upkeep of their homes, as well as around affordability.
“By understanding people’s attitudes to and experiences of their home, as well as their future aspirations, we can deliver the homes and communities people need.”

The importance of research in informing housing policy and delivery is also at the heart of today’s Housing Agency New Housing Research Seminar, which brings together researchers, policymakers and housing practitioners to share new findings and explore emerging housing challenges.

Opening the seminar, David Silke, the Housing Agency's Director of Insights and Operations , emphasised the importance of ensuring research reflects the experiences and needs of different communities, stating: “Research gives a voice to communities and provides the evidence needed to shape future housing policy.”

Through a range of plenary sessions and workshops, today’s seminar explores key topics including housing inclusion, systems thinking, data-driven policymaking, housing tenure, and future research priorities.

Together, the study launch and research seminar highlight the importance of evidence, research and collaboration in understanding housing needs and informing housing policy and delivery across Ireland.

Applications remain open for Round 2 of The Housing Agency’s Housing Education Bursary Scheme 2026/2027.

The ICSH/CIH Level 4 Certificate in Housing is delivered through blended learning – a combination of teaching days delivered through Zoom and self-directed learning supported by online resources.

The course covers key areas including housing policy, management, law and regulation, finance, professionalism and customer focus, while also helping learners develop skills in managing people, risk and change.

The programme begins in January 2027.
