🌳Playground Works Update 🙏 Thank you for your continued patience as we work to complete the upgrade and repair works on our much-loved Playground— we also appreciate the valuable feedback from our community at all stages of these works. The following repairs and improvements have now been completed:

✅ Cleaning, sanding and varnishing of 6 existing seats and the addition of 4 new seats - bringing the total number of benches available to 10
✅ Repair, power washing, cleaning and graffiti removal (where possible) to all playground equipment
✅ Repair of the zip wire
✅ The Installation of the ability swing
✅ Replacement of gate safety hinges and new closers on both gates

With these repairs now nearing completion we will move the final stage of the playground works, which will involving laying the new safety surface and then doing some final safety checks to make sure this space is ready for everyone.

Please bear with us as we close out these works as we know there’s strong interest in the space reopening and we are working to complete the remaining elements as efficiently as possible🌳👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

A new article from Grangegorman Histories at the The Royal Irish Academy looks at the women imprisoned in Grangegorman’s Female Penitentiary in the 19th century.

Opened in 1836, it was the only prison in Britain and Ireland dedicated to women. Many of those held there were imprisoned for minor offences, often linked to poverty and survival.

Some were transported overseas. Others were repeatedly imprisoned.

The article draws on historical records to document their lives and experiences.

🌈Playground Works Update 🛝

We are now making good progress on the groundworks and levelling the surface in preparation for the next stage of this project – which will be the application of the new surface material.

We know that this has been a longer than intended process due to bad weather earlier in the year so we would like to thank you for your continued patience with this project. We are doing our best to finish the work required to get this valuable and much-loved space ready for the community.

Work on the playground is continuing to move forward, with visible progress on site.

The mobility swing has now been installed, and groundworks are close to completion. The next stage will involve laying the new safety surface, which will be scheduled once weather conditions allow.

We know there’s strong interest in the space reopening and we are working to complete the remaining elements as efficiently as possible.
