India’s 7.8% real GDP growth in Q1 FY 2026–27 is a reflection to the resilience of our economy and the impact of reforms under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Despite global uncertainties, oil price shocks and supply-chain disruptions, India continues to move ahead with confidence and momentum.

“The question is not whether there is capital or whether there are projects. The real challenge is making projects bankable.”

Speaking at the Infrastructure Today Conclave – Railways, organised by First Construction Council in association with Infrastructure Today and Construction World, Nav Goel, GM (Finance), IRFC, shared his perspective on the future of railway financing during the panel discussion, “Who Will Fund India’s Rail Expansion?”

He noted that railway capex has grown at around 10.9% CAGR over the past decade, reaching ₹2.93 lakh crore this year, making a broader capital ecosystem beyond traditional budgetary funding essential.

Drawing a parallel with RBCs (Red Blood Cells), he described IRFC’s evolving role as a Recycler of Capital, provider of Bespoke Solutions and Catalyst for capital aggregation.

The opportunity, he said, lies not just in new financial instruments, but in aligning the right assets and cash flows with the right instruments to channel capital more efficiently into railway infrastructure.
