Music knows no boundaries. 🎶 Bryan, an inmate at Bordelais Correctional Facility, is turning his reflections into powerful song lyrics. We’re honored to preserve his words at the National Archives, proving that history and hope can be written anywhere—even behind bars. 🏛️✨

The National Archives of Saint Lucia is pleased to receive nine (9) publications from local author Sherma Lindsay Thomas.

Born prematurely at seven months and diagnosed with cerebral palsy a few months after birth, Sherma faced significant challenges growing up in Saint Lucia, including limited access to formal public education. Despite this, she pursued home-based learning and discovered her passion for writing at an early age.

In her early teens, Sherma began crafting short stories, and in 2004 she compiled them into her first book. To date, she has authored a total of nine books — a remarkable achievement that speaks to her perseverance, creativity, and unwavering spirit.

We commend Sherma for her contribution to Saint Lucia’s literary heritage and thank her for entrusting the National Archives with copies of her work for preservation.

Congratulations, Sherma! 📚✨

The National Archives congratulates Mrs. Louise Mathurin Serieux on the launch of her publication On the Shoulders of “Peasants.” This remarkable work takes readers on a historical journey in the post-Emancipation period, highlighting how ordinary Saint Lucians transitioned from enslavement to becoming landlords, entrepreneurs, and farmers—driving industry and economic growth through determination, hard work, and resilience.

After spending weeks at a time conducting research with us, Louise has truly become part of the National Archives family.

Congratulations, Louise — a researcher who writes not only preserves history, but also creates new sources for the future.
