🇱🇷 MGCSP Strengthens the Front Line of Survivor Care

No survivor should face violence alone or struggle to find help.

From August 5–8, 2026, the Government of Liberia, through the Ministry Of Gender, Children And Social Protection-Liberia (MGCSP), trained 18 frontline service providers, 12 women and six men; in Grand Cape Mount County.

Under LWEP Component 2A that focus on strengthening basic services in Health, participants strengthened their skills in safe and ethical GBV referrals, Psychological First Aid, psychosocial support, adolescent sexual and reproductive health, and survivor rights.

Similar training sessions were held across Grand Cape Mount, Bomi, and Gbarpolu Counties.

Stronger service providers mean safer referrals, quicker support, and greater confidence for women and girls to seek the care they need.

MGCSP Strengthens Frontline Protection and Health Services Across Three Counties

When survivors seek help, the quality of the first response can make all the difference. Through the Liberia Women’s Empowerment Project, the Ministry Of Gender, Children And Social Protection-Liberia a is conducting a four-day integrated training for 40 frontline (26 women and 14 men) from Bomi, Gbarpolu and Grand Cape Mount counties.

Healthcare workers, women and children protection officers, and social workers are strengthening their practical skills in GBV prevention and response, sexual and reproductive health and rights, psychological first aid, psychosocial support, and safe, survivor-centred referral systems.

Using participatory and hands-on sessions, the training is helping participants provide compassionate support, protect survivors’ dignity and connect women and girls to appropriate services.

This empowerment by the Government of Liberia is building a stronger community-level response where survivors are heard, protected and safely supported.

MGCSP Concludes Sixth IPEAC Sitting, Approves 183 Women-Led Enterprise Grant Applications

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MGCSP) has concluded the 6th Sitting of the Independent Proposal Evaluation and Approval Committee (IPEAC) under the Liberia Women Empowerment Project (LWEP), marking another important milestone in expanding economic opportunities for women across Liberia.

The two-day evaluation, held from 30–31 July 2026, brought together members of the Independent Proposal Evaluation and Approval Committee to assess 196 Enterprise Support and Livelihood Grant (ESLG) applications submitted by women-led enterprises. Following an independent review against the project’s eligibility and technical criteria, 183 applications met the requirements for grant award, while 13 applications did not meet the requirements for grant award. The grant signing climaxed the 6th two days IPEAC sitting.

The applications that did not meet the required standards will be returned to the applicants for correction and resubmission. They will continue to receive the necessary guidance and support to address the identified gaps until they satisfy the project requirements for grant award.

This process reflects the Ministry’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and fairness in the administration of the Enterprise Support and Livelihood Grant. Through the Liberia Women Empowerment Project, implemented by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection with funding support from the World Bank, women-led enterprises are being supported to build sustainable businesses, improve household incomes, create employment opportunities, and contribute to inclusive economic growth across Liberia.

MGCSP Leads Transparent Grant Evaluation

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MGCSP) continues to champion women’s economic empowerment through the Liberia Women Empowerment Project (LWEP).

The Ministry has convened the 6th Sitting of the Independent Proposal Evaluation and Approval Committee (IPEAC) to independently evaluate 196 Enterprise Support and Livelihood Grant (ESLG) applications from Gbarpolu, Grand Cape Mount, and Rural Montserrado.

This rigorous evaluation process ensures that every application is assessed fairly, transparently, and objectively before any funding recommendations are made.

Together, we are creating opportunities for women, strengthening livelihoods, and building resilient communities across Liberia.

196 Women-Led Enterprise Grant Applications Under Independent Review

The Ministry Of Gender, Children And Social Protection-Liberia through its Liberia Women Empowerment Project (LWEP) has commenced the 6th Sitting of the Independent Proposal Evaluation and Approval Committee (IPEAC) in Monrovia.

Over two days, the Committee is independently reviewing 194 Enterprise Support and Livelihood Grant (ESLG) applications from Gbarpolu, Grand Cape Mount, and Rural Montserrado to ensure a fair, transparent, and merit-based selection process.

The applications include:
âś… 135 Individual Enterprises (IEs)
âś… 50 Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs)
âś… 11 Farm-Based Organizations (FBOs)

This independent evaluation is a critical step toward supporting women-led businesses that will create jobs, increase household incomes, and strengthen local economies across Liberia.

The Liberia Women Empowerment Project is a Government of Liberia initiative implemented by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MGCSP) with funding support from the World Bank.

From Pilot Learning to National Impact!

30 July,2026- Gbarpolu:

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection-Republic of Liberia(MGCSP), through the Liberia Women Empowerment Project (LWEP) with funding support from the World Bank, held a day National Learning, and Endorsement Workshop for the Champion of Change (CoC) Module and Facilitators’ Guide.

Held under the theme “From Pilot Learning to National Endorsement and Institutionalization,” the workshop brought together government institutions, technical experts and partners to map the gaps and recommend lessons learned from the pilot phase and strengthen a curriculum that empowers young people to become positive agents of change.

Together, participants reviewed evidence, shared experiences ensuring that the module promotes gender equality, safeguarding, child protection, education and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).

The discussions and findings are laying the foundation for a nationally endorsed curriculum that will promote safer schools, promote gender equality, and strengthen communities across Liberia.

MGCSP Brings Peacebuilding Home: Every Community Becomes a Classroom!

Peace begins where people live. Through the Awareness Phase of SASA!, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection-Republic of Liberia (MGCSP) is taking learning beyond meeting halls and into the heart of communities; under the shade of trees, during free time, and in everyday spaces where people feel comfortable.

In Gbarngay, Gbanja Ta, BellehKpalamu, and Gboorketa in Bokomu District, Gbarpolu County, Community-Based Activists and Leaders are helping neighbors reflect, discuss, and act together to build safe, peaceful, and dignified communities. Every conversation is strengthening respect, challenging harmful social norms, and encouraging families to stand against violence.

The community check-in and activism session reached 36 participants; 16 women, 8 men, 7 boys, and 5 girls, showing that lasting change happens when everyone has a voice.
When communities become classrooms, peace becomes everyone's lesson, and every citizen becomes an agent of change. Through the Government of Liberia, led by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, the Awareness Phase is bringing hope, safety, and dignity closer to the people, one community at a time.

Change Begins With One Conversation, and Grows Into a Movement

Every trained community leader becomes a beacon of hope, protecting families and shaping a better future for the next generation.

MGCSP Builds Community Champions to Prevent Gender-Based Violence

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MGCSP), through Component 1A of the Liberia Women Empowerment Project, successfully conducted the Second Batch of the SASA! Awareness Phase II Training at the Nylie Multipurpose Building in Tubmanburg, Bomi County.

The training brought together 45 dedicated SASA! community champions, - 23 Community-Based Activists (CBAs) and 22 Community-Based Leaders (CBLs), with an almost equal representation of 23 women and 22 men committed to driving lasting social change.

Participants strengthened their capacity to implement the SASA! approach, equipping them with practical skills to transform harmful social norms, prevent gender-based violence, mobilize their communities, and foster relationships rooted in equality, dignity, and mutual respect.

Every trained activist is another voice against violence. Every empowered leader is another step toward safer homes. Every transformed community brings Liberia closer to a future where women and girls can live free from fear and reach their full potential.

Together, we are not just changing attitudes; we are building peaceful, resilient, and empowered communities.

Ministry Of Gender, Children And Social Protection-Liberia (MGCSP) Leads the Way in Building Peaceful Communities

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MGCSP) is strengthening community leadership through the SASA! Awareness Phase Training in Lofa Bridge Community, Gola Konneh District, Grand Cape Mount County. From July 20–22, 2026, 48 Community-Based Actors (25 women and 23 men) are gaining the knowledge and skills needed to challenge harmful social norms, prevent gender-based violence, and promote respect and equality.

Through the Liberia Women Empowerment Project, MGCSP is helping communities build a future where families live free from violence, women and girls are safe, conflicts are resolved peacefully, and everyone can contribute to sustainable development.

Peaceful communities are the foundation of stronger families, thriving local economies, better education, improved health, and lasting national development. When communities stand together, women flourish, children grow up in safety, and Liberia moves forward.
