The Commonwealth Utilities Corporation (CUC) advises Rota customers that crews are preparing to energize primary lines on Feeder 2 tomorrow, August 5, 2026, at around 5:00 p.m. The anticipated energization area includes the CUC Rota Power Plant to the Sonton area and As Paris to the Post Office.

If you are currently using a generator or solar power system, ensure your MAIN CIRCUIT BREAKER is turned OFF before utility power is restored to your area. This is to prevent electricity from backfeeding onto CUC's power lines, protecting line crews working to restore service, and helping prevent damage to your electrical equipment.

Please note that this is an anticipated schedule only. Energization will occur only if ongoing repairs, system testing, and safety checks are successfully completed. If conditions are not met, energization may be delayed to ensure the safety of the community and our line crews.

Customers are also reminded to stay clear of damaged, fallen, or dangling power lines and to report them to Customer Service at (670) 664-4282.

The Commonwealth Utilities Corporation (CUC) would like to inform the general public that there will be a temporary road closure along the outer northbound lane on Beach Road, Susupe, from Wednesday, August 5, 2026, to Friday, August 7, 2026. See additional information below.

Motorists are advised to reduce their speed and exercise caution when traveling through the area. Detour signs and traffic control measures will be in place to safely direct motorists around the work area.

As restoration efforts continue across the Marianas following the impacts of Super Typhoons Sinlaku and Bavi, CUC is providing the latest verified restoration status for Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.

๐Ÿ“Saipan (latest verified date as of July 31, 2026)
- Customer Accounts: 15,624
- Customer Accounts Energized: 11,833
- 81% Energized (excluding approximately 6% of facilities that sustained storm damage and are unable to safely receive electric service)

๐Ÿ“Tinian (latest verified date as of July 30, 2026)
- Customer Accounts: 1,059
- Customer Accounts Energized: 985
- 93% Energized

Areas pending power restoration include the Su***de Cliff areas and customers awaiting weather head repairs, transformer replacements, and power pole replacements

๐Ÿ“Rota

Power restoration remains in progress as crews continue work at the Rota Power Plant and prepare the electrical distribution system for restoration. One diesel generator unit has been successfully repaired. Crews are continuing final inspections, system checks, and preparation activities required before safely energizing the system and gradually restoring power to customers. Repairs and testing on a second generator unit are also progressing to support restoration efforts.

Power T&D Progress:
In the Songsong area, crews are installing transformers in preparation to energize primary lines once final inspections, system checks, and preparation activities are completed. Today, crews are focused on restoration work from Rota Hotel toward Sinapalo ABS near the IT&E antenna. Two bucket trucks and an auger truck remain operational and are supporting ongoing field work.

Water service has been restored to 100% of customers on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.
If you are experiencing little to no water pressure or are without water service, please check your property for possible leaks and contact Customer Service at (670) 664-4282. Hidden leaks may prevent water from reaching your home even after service has been restored.

CUC continues to make progress on power generation restoration efforts for the island of Rota.

As of this evening, August 1, 2026, crews troubleshooting one of the diesel generator units at the Rota Power Plant have made significant progress with repair efforts. The team was able to start the unit, allowing crews to continue diagnosing and addressing priority repair areas needed to bring the unit back into full operation.

Crews are continuing repairs and testing to help stabilize power generation for the island. Once the generator is stable, CUC will begin energizing the distribution system as conditions allow.

CUC appreciates the Rota communityโ€™s continued patience and understanding as teams continue working on ongoing power restoration efforts.

CUC Power Transmission & Distribution crews continue making steady progress across Rota as they prepare the island's electrical system for energization.

Today, crews are working in Songsong Village, connecting customers to newly restored primary lines in preparation for future energization. This afternoon, crews will continue primary line restoration work at the Sonton ABS, working their way up to the Sinapalo ABS near the IT&E antenna.

In recent days, crews have completed significant repairs and restringing of primary power lines in the Songsong area and continue installing transformers and repairing additional primary lines across the island. Crews are utilizing available equipment to support work in multiple areas and help advance restoration efforts as quickly and safely as possible.

We appreciate the dedication of our crews and the continued support of the Rota community as restoration efforts move forward.

Restoration materials, including transformers and conductors, arrived on Rota over the weekend to support ongoing recovery efforts following the impacts of Super Typhoon Bavi.

This morning, a bucket truck also arrived and has already been put to work, giving our line crews another important tool as they continue rebuilding damaged electrical infrastructure.

These additional resources will help support restoration work as crews continue repairs to the diesel generator units at the power plant and prepare the island for the safe restoration of power.
