🏀 HISTORIC MOMENT IN THE MAKING! 🇩🇪✨

The Quarter-Finals at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 are officially set, and history is already unfolding right before our eyes!

For the FIRST TIME EVER, the German Women’s Basketball Team has charged into the Quarter-Finals! 🚀 Standing in their way is a powerhouse clash against Belgium tonight at 17:45 Local Time.

But they aren't walking onto that court alone. Our phenomenal volunteers from the Basketball Artists School (BAS) in Namibia have travelled across continents 🇳🇦✈️🏀 to be part of this unforgettable moment. They are right there in the stadium, witnessing this historic milestone live!

From court-side to behind-the-scenes, their vibrant energy, dedication, and passion for the game are lighting up the tournament. They’ve brought the true spirit of African hoops with them, and you can feel it in the air! 🌍✨

Could our BAS Namibia volunteers be the good luck charm that pushes Germany all the way into the Semi-Finals? 🏆🔮

⛴️ What is Russia's shadow fleet and why does it pose environmental and security risks for African states?

‼️ Russia's illegal oil tankers serve one purpose: helping fund Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine while evading sanctions and violating international law. The network consists of aging, underinsured and opaquely owned tankers.

❌ What Russia doesn't care about: the security and environmental risks these ships pose to African states.

🌍 Vessels linked to the network have appeared under African flags, while some registrations have reportedly been falsified or exploited.

🚨 For countries such as Zimbabwe, Angola, Benin, Eswatini, Guinea, Malawi, Mali and Mozambique, this raises questions around maritime governance, registry integrity and enforcement.

🛑 That's why African authorities have been identifying and challenging fraudulent registrations — to protect their people and the environment.

Russia always says it wants peace. But the reality looks very different.

Illegal recruitment, disinformation campaigns and hybrid warfare — across Africa and Europe. 🌍🇪🇺

In Germany 🇩🇪, Russia’s responsibility for the attempted drone attack at Leipzig Airport has now been confirmed ‼️

On 4 August, an explosives-laden drone was found near a cargo aircraft at the airport. The device was defused, and the airport was temporarily shut down.

Following the confirmation of Russia’s responsibility, Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul and Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt announced new measures against Russia, including:

✅ closing Russia’s Consulate General in Bonn
✅ terminating the lease for the Russian House in Berlin
✅ tighter immigration controls for Russian nationals
✅ increased pressure on Russia’s shadow fleet
✅ new EU sanctions

Let’s be clear: This state of relations is not in the interest of the German Government. Germany’s objective has always been to bring Russia’s illegal war to an end, restore peace and security in Europe, and return to constructive relations.

But when there is an attempted attack on Germany, as in this case, there have to be consequences.

We will therefore continue to strengthen our defences, work with NATO and the EU, and support Ukraine. 🇺🇦
