Together with other stakeholders, the Office of the Ombudsman is taking part in the State of Justice Conference 2026 in order to advance the protection of human rights, strengthen Namibia's legal system, and foster accountability.

The Office of the Ombudsman Namibia is honoured to be part of the Olufuko Annual Cultural Festival 2026, taking place from 24 August to 1 September 2026.

Day 1 is all about celebrating culture, heritage and community, while engaging with communities and promoting awareness of human rights and good governance.

Validation workshop of the National African Charter on the Values and Principles of Public Service and Administration Committee underway at NIPAM. The workshop is scheduled from 18-20 August 2026. The representatives from the Ombudsman Office are Mr. Hendrik Mauyoma, Chairperson of Cluster 3 and Ms. Hermina Apollus as Secretariat of which Cluster 3 covered Article 4: Rights of Public Service Agents. The workshop is also attended by various representatives from O/M/As. The workshop objective is to validate the 2nd Country Report that is due for submission on 30 September 2026 to the African Union Commission.

MR. SYLVESTER SIBUNGO MEETS ACTING CEO OF MARIENTAL MUNICIPALITY DURING INVESTIGATION VISIT in Mariental – Mr. Sylvester Sibungo, standing with the Acting Chief Executive Officer of Mariental Municipality, Ms. Catherine Boois and her team during an official investigation visit to the Municipality.

The visit was conducted to look into allegations of unfair allocation of residential plots within Mariental.

The meeting focused on gathering facts, engaging with municipal leadership, and ensuring that the process of land allocation is done in a transparent, fair and accountable manner in line with municipal regulations and community expectations.

Mr. Sibungo emphasized the importance of upholding good governance and addressing community concerns promptly.

The Ombudsman paid a visit to the staff and management of the Government Garage in Windhoek this morning, 18 August 2026.

During the visit, he highlighted the important role of the Government Garage in managing and maintaining the government fleet. The Ombudsman thanked the staff for their efforts and encouraged them to continue upholding excellence in the performance of their duties.

Furthermore, the Ombudsman informed the staff about the mandate of his Office and encouraged them to visit the Office whenever they have complaints requiring remedial action.

Mr. Boniface Massah, Executive Director of the African Albinism Network, based in Malawi, and Mr. Achileus Tardzenyny of the Human Rights Office, based in Cameroon, paid a courtesy visit to our office on Monday, 27 July 2026, at 14:30.
The purpose of the courtesy visit was to discuss and explore strategies for reinstating the process of developing and implementing the National Action Plan on Albinism.

Day 3: African Ombudsman Research Centre (AORC) Training on Forensic Investigations and Digital Case Handling: Integrating Technology into Ombudsman Work workshop has officially concluded.

The delegates were capacitated with adequate knowledge and practical experience to strengthen their ability to effectively carry out their mandates. Such workshops continue to align the work of the Ombudsman and other oversight institutions with their statutory mandates and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while promoting good governance, accountability, and collaboration.
