Namibian Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) is a non-profit association incorporated under section 21, and is established as an autonomous entity in the Presidency and pronounced as a Public Enterprise in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Enterprises Governance Act, 2019 (Act No. 1 of 2019). NIPDB is mandated to promote and facilitate investment by foreign and Namibian inves

tors as well as new ventures to contribute to economic development and job creation;

SME FUND FIRST CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

The SME Fund is officially inviting MSMEs to apply for its first Call for Applications, offering funding and business support to unlock growth and competitiveness. Part of the ProSME Project, a partnership between NIPDB, NPC, and GIZ, the fund aims to strengthen enterprise sustainability and drive inclusive economic development across all 14 regions of Namibia.

Applications are open to all sectors, with a special emphasis on youth-led and women-led enterprises, as well as businesses demonstrating innovation, sustainability, and job creation. Interested applicants can apply online at http://smefund.nipdb.com/ between 10 June and 24 July 2026.

Why the SME Fund Matters

In this short interview, Vistorina Ilonga from the ProSME Project explains why the new ProSME SME Fund, launched today, matters for Namibia’s MSME and startup ecosystem.

The fund is implemented by the National Planning Commission of Namibia, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ Namibia), the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), and is designed to complement existing support and help more businesses access the resources they need to grow and become more competitive.

Eligible enterprises may apply for grants ranging from N$50,000 to N$100,000 to scale operations.

Namibia Launches SME Fund to Accelerate MSME Growth and Competitiveness

Namibian MSMEs can now access targeted funding and integrated business support through the newly launched SME Fund, implemented by the National Planning Commission (NPC), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB).

Under the ProSME Project, eligible enterprises may apply for grants ranging from N$50,000 to N$100,000 to scale operations, enhance competitiveness and unlock new market opportunities in priority sectors, with applications open until 24 July 2026.

Strengthening Namibian Suppliers Through Global Partnership

The NIPDB is pleased to have partnered with DNV on the DNV Customer Seminar and Networking Event in Namibia. The event successfully brought together expertise in international standards, certification, and maritime services to support the development of local suppliers.

Through this collaboration, Namibian businesses gained valuable opportunities to strengthen their capabilities, enhance competitiveness, and position themselves for participation in regional and global value chains. The SME Fund is seeking passionate and results-driven professionals to contribute to the growth and competitiveness of Namibia’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector.

The SME Fund forms part of the broader Promotion of SME Development in Namibia (ProSME) Project, implemented by the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) in partnership with the National Planning Commission (NPC) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). Through this partnership, the SME Fund aims to strengthen MSME sustainability, competitiveness, and growth through entrepreneurship support, ecosystem strengthening, strategic partnerships, and enterprise development interventions aligned with Namibia’s national development priorities and inclusive economic growth objectives.

Namibia Berries: Growing Investment, Jobs and Opportunity in Divundu

Today we profile one of the investment projects facilitated by the NIPDB: Namibia Berries.

Namibia Berries is a hydroponic blueberry project located in Divundu, Kavango East, along the banks of the Kavango River. What started as a trial block in October 2022 has grown into a major agri-investment project, producing high value blue berries for export to the European Union, United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.
In 2024, Namibia Berries recorded its first harvest of 190 tonnes, while 171 permanent jobs have been created so far, alongside an estimated 1,000 temporary jobs during peak periods.

The NIPDB is proud to collaborate with other government Offices, Ministries and Agencies to promote Namibia and attract quality investments that drive economic growth and create meaningful employment for our people.

Through our collective efforts, a total of 26 projects have been successfully grounded in Namibia, worth a combined projected value of N$ 27.9 billion.
