Watch: Martin Nambundunga, Interim CEO at Daures Green Hydrogen Village, on why this project matters for Namibia.

Daures Fertiliser a 100% Namibian, youth-led company has secured N$60 million from Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Namibia One, with support from the European Union’s Global Gateway initiative, at yesterday’s signing at the African Green Industries Summit (African Green Industries Summit (AGIS) ) in Swakopmund.
Instead of only exporting hydrogen, the project aims to produce fertiliser at home, support farmers, and turn unfarmable land into productive soil.
His message to young Namibians: the possibilities are there – stay in the industry, believe in it, and go after the opportunities.

At African Green Industries Summit (AGIS) , Her Excellency Ana Beatriz Martins, Ambassador of the EU Delegation to Namibia to Namibia and Head of the EU Delegation to Namibia, shared that green industrialisation is already underway, driven by Namibian entrepreneurs and European partnerships.

She highlighted up to 30,000 potential jobs in green energy and industrialisation, with pilot projects like Hyiron already creating tens of jobs and set to scale. As projects grow, more technology transfer, exports of green products (like fertilisers and green iron), and greater prosperity for Namibians are expected.

Day 1 of the African Green Industries Summit (AGIS) 2026 is officially underway in Swakopmund, following a strong opening day and investment forum.

This morning’s proceedings featured high-level addresses on green industrial policy, investment readiness and regional cooperation, setting the tone for sessions on attracting investment for green industrialisation and advancing climate-resilient water infrastructure, agriculture and food security.

As NIPDB’s Acting CEO Julia Muetudhana said at yesterday’s investment forum: “Having a project is only the beginning. A project must be commercially viable, properly prepared and clearly show the capital, technology and partnerships required to create sustainable value for investors, communities and the broader economy.”

Amb. Dr Kaire Mbuende, Director-General of the National Planning Commission, underscored the broader ambition: “Green hydrogen is not a narrow energy project. It is at the core of our development agenda: to build domestic productive capacity, create 30,000 green jobs by 2030, and turn Namibia’s resources into competitive, low-carbon industries.”

Today’s discussions are designed to facilitate knowledge sharing, address sector challenges and highlight the policy reforms and partnerships unlocking Africa’s potential as a global green industrial hub.

NIPDB Investment Forum Connects Local Projects with Investors in Swakopmund

Namibian project owners presented investment opportunities at the NIPDB Project Investment Forum, held in Swakopmund as part of the African Green Industries Summit (AGIS) 2026.

The pitches covered projects linked to green hydrogen, renewable energy, critical minerals, infrastructure, manufacturing and other areas of Namibia’s green industrialisation agenda. Projects presented included solar PV, local solar-module assembly and recycling, organic waste-to-energy, graphite mining, sustainable sanitation, agricultural machinery manufacturing, bio-industrial development, green hydrogen, chlor-alkali technologies and tyre recycling.

Investors highlighted the importance of bankable feasibility studies, clear revenue models, secured land and off-take agreements, strong project teams and realistic implementation plans as key factors in funding decisions.

The Forum created direct engagement between project owners, investors, financiers and technology partners, helping local businesses strengthen their investment readiness and develop the partnerships required to scale.
