CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
Hobsonville Point Primary School Board
Nominations are now open for the 2026 School Board elections at Hobsonville Point Primary School
School Boards play an important role in the governance of our schools and in supporting positive outcomes for students. We are seeking people who are interested in contributing their skills, experience, knowledge and perspectives to the governance of our schools.
Positions available

5 Parent Representative positions
1 Staff Representative position
Who can stand?
Any adult can stand for election as a Parent Representative, provided they are nominated by a parent of a student enrolled at the school.
Eligible staff members may stand for election as a Staff Representative.
You do not need previous School Board experience to stand. Board members bring a wide range of skills, knowledge and experience to their role, and we encourage members of our school communities to consider putting themselves forward.
Candidate Statements
Candidates are invited to provide a profile photo and statement of no more than 300 words to introduce themselves to voters.

Qualifications
Skills and abilities
Previous involvement with the school or institution(s) administered by the Board
Reasons for standing for election
Interests
Candidate statements will be provided to eligible voters to assist them in making an informed decision, this information will be presented in alphabetical order of surname

Information Evenings
Please note that in order to give people more time to consider nominations the information evening date for those considering standing has been brought forward to 9 September

These evenings provide an opportunity to learn more about the role of a Board member, the election process and what is involved in contributing to School Board governance.
Election Timeline
4 September 2026-Call for nominations
24 September 2026-Nominations close
1 October 2026-Voting papers issued
29 October 2026, 4.00pm-Voting closes
4 November 2026-Election results announced
5 November 2026-New Boards take office
Voting
Voting will be conducted electronically using an accredited electronic voting provider - myschoolelection.nz.
Paper voting forms will also be available for voters who prefer to vote using a paper form, including the option to vote in person at the school.
Further information about voting arrangements will be provided to eligible voters when voting papers are issued.
If the number of valid nominations received does not exceed the number of positions available, those candidates will be declared elected and an election will not be required.
How to Nominate
Nomination forms will be sent today via myschoolelection.nz but will also be available from the relevant school office / Returning Officer.
Completed nomination forms, together with your candidate statement if you wish to provide one, must be received by the Returning Officer no later than 12pm on Thursday 24 September 2026.
