Today, one of our dedicated patrollers is swapping the patrol vehicle for the pavement and taking on the 10KM Walk at the Dunedin Marathon! 🏃‍♂️

They'll be proudly representing North Dunedin Community Patrol every step of the way. 👏

We’re incredibly proud to have our volunteers not only giving their time to patrol our community, but also getting out there and representing our organisation at events across Dunedin.

Another busy month for North Dunedin Community Patrol!

Throughout August, our volunteers were out and about across our community, providing a visible presence and supporting Police.

Every patrol makes a difference. Our volunteers give their time to help keep Dunedin safer, provide an extra set of eyes and ears, and support our community when it matters.

🚔 PATROL IN ACTION

A recent patrol highlighted exactly why having trained Community Patrol volunteers out in our communities matters.

During a patrol in North Dunedin, our volunteers came across a crashed motorcycle and immediately contacted emergency services through our in-car radio.

The rider subsequently left the scene. Police who were enroute to our call then clocked him speeding before he was involved in yet another crash. Police were able to locate the rider a short time later.

Our volunteers don't replace Police — we provide an extra set of eyes and ears in the community, helping identify incidents and get the right response underway.

🚔 SAFETY SATURDAY #8 – KNOW YOUR WAY OUT 🚪

If an emergency happened right now, would you know how to get out?

Take a moment to think about your home, workplace, or flat:

🚪 Know your nearest exit
🔦 Keep exits and pathways clear
🔑 Know where your keys are
👨‍👩‍👧 Make sure everyone knows the plan
You don't want to be figuring it out when there's an emergency.

A few minutes of preparation can make a big difference. 💙

❄️ 🚗 Drive to the conditions 🚗 ❄️

Be careful this morning team most roads have a combination of snow and water which has created some pretty gnarly ice rinks and we've just had a fair bit of hail come through to add to the equation. Some roads appear to be at a crawl.

If you don't need to drive then we'd recommend not to go out and if you do, Just slow down, take your time and drive to the conditions.

We've noticed plenty of ice around Dunedin during the early hours recently.
If you're heading out early, please take extra care, slow down, and watch for black ice—especially on bridges, shaded roads, and hills.

🔥 Deep South BBQ Competition 🍖

A big thank you to everyone who supported us at the recent Deep South BBQ Competition!

Our volunteers had a great time attending the event and fundraising for North Dunedin Community Patrol. We really appreciate everyone who stopped by, supported our fundraising efforts, and helped us continue our work in the community.

We are always fundraising and seeking donations/support to go towards general running costs and a potential new vehicle.
