SAFETY SATURDAY #7 - Winter Driving Reminder 🚗 ❄️

We've noticed plenty of ice around Dunedin during the early hours recently.
If you're heading out early, please take extra care, slow down, and watch for black ice—especially on bridges, shaded roads, and hills.

Stay safe out there! 🚔💙

🚔 SAFETY SATURDAY #6 – Stop. Think. Check. 📱⚠️

Scams can happen to anyone, at any age.
Before clicking a link, sending money, or sharing personal information, take a moment to stop and think.

🔍 Is the message or caller who they say they are?

📱 Don't click unknown links.

🔐 Never share passwords or security codes.

☎️ If you're unsure, contact the organisation directly using an official phone number or website.

If something feels off, trust your instincts. It's better to take a moment to check than to regret it later.

Stay safe online, Dunedin! 💙🚔

🔥 Deep South BBQ Competition 🍖

A big thank you to everyone who supported us at the recent Deep South BBQ Competition!

Our volunteers had a great time attending the event and fundraising for North Dunedin Community Patrol. We really appreciate everyone who stopped by, supported our fundraising efforts, and helped us continue our work in the community.

We are always fundraising and seeking donations/support to go towards general running costs and a potential new vehicle.

🚔💙 Thank you for your support!

🚔 SAFETY SATURDAY #4 – Say Hello to Your Neighbours 👋

One of the simplest ways to improve community safety is to know the people who live around you.

Neighbours who know each other are more likely to notice when something isn't right and look out for one another.

A safer community starts with a simple hello.

🚔 SAFETY SATURDAY #3 – Leave a Light On 💡

As the evenings get darker, a well-lit home can be a simple but effective crime deterrent.

🏡 Turn on your outside light when you're out after dark.
💡 Consider sensor lights around entrances and driveways.
👀 Good lighting helps you, your neighbours, and emergency services see what's happening.

A brighter property can help create a safer neighbourhood for everyone.

Have a safe weekend from North Dunedin Community Patrol. 💙

🚔 SAFETY SATURDAY #2 – Drive to the Conditions 🌧️❄️

If you've lived in Dunedin for any length of time, you'll know the weather can change in an instant. A clear afternoon can quickly turn into rain, fog, or even black ice during these colder winter months.

Before heading out:
🌧️ Slow down when roads are wet.
🚗 Increase your following distance.
💡 Turn your headlights on in poor visibility.
❄️ Watch for black ice on bridges, shaded roads, and hills—especially early in the morning and after dark and as always drive to the conditions.

A few extra minutes and a little extra care can make all the difference.

Let's all do our part to keep ourselves and others safe on Dunedin's roads this winter.

Have a safe weekend from the team at North Dunedin Community Patrol. 🚔💙
