πŸ’› Your Year to Volunteer – Tōu tau ki te tΕ«ao πŸ’›

National Volunteer Week (Te Wiki TΕ«ao ā-Motu) is here, and this year’s theme is a reminder that every act of volunteering has the power to make a real difference.

At Cancer Society Nelson Tasman, our volunteers are at the heart of what we do. They give their time, skills and compassion to support people facing cancer across our region – whether it's driving someone to treatment, offering a listening ear, helping at events, assisting in our offices, or lending a hand wherever it's needed.

No two volunteer journeys are the same, but each one helps ensure that no one has to face cancer alone.

Throughout the week, we’ll be celebrating some of the incredible people who generously give their time to support our community. Their kindness creates comfort, connection and hope for those who need it most.

To all our volunteers, thank you for choosing to make a difference. Your contribution reaches further than you may ever know.

Could this be your year to volunteer?

Ngā mihi nui to every volunteer who helps make our work possible. πŸ’›

Thank you wonderful people of Nelson Tasman who give so selflessly to help your neighbours, neighbourhoods and communities! Your mahi is so very much appreciated. Nelson Tasman would not be the community it is without your volunteered support. We know the people who attended Volunteer Nelson's Mayor's Morning Tea for Volunteers today represent 1000s upon 1000s more volunteers quietly going about their service to the community. We can't thank you enough!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended the Mayor's Morning Tea for Volunteers 2026, hosted by Volunteer Nelson at Founders Park this morning.
The approximately 90 people who joined us represented just the tip of the iceberg of the many volunteers who help make the Nelson Tasman region such a vibrant and caring community.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to attend and represent your organisations. The work you do, and the heart and soul you put into volunteering, make an enormous difference and are deeply appreciated.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Mayor Nick Smith and the Nelson City Council for supporting this event; providing funding towards the morning tea and for taking the time to personally acknowledge and thank the volunteers represented.

Thank you for all that you do!
