Quick acknowledgement post, because we’re so proud of their efforts.

To three Senior Firefighters from Nelson Station who competed last weekend at the Moturoa Backyard Ultra, held at Rough Island, representing the FENZ team.

SFF Grimwood – 67km
SFF Kerr – 100km
SFF Egelstaff – 4th overall with a crazy 174km!

Special shout-out to the winner, Fran, who is also a close friend of the Station, who ran over 200km!
What an event. Well done!

Today’s flashback is a tribute to the 343 New York firefighters who lost their lives 25 years ago today.

At Nelson Station, we have a display dedicated to honouring those fallen heroes, which includes a piece of steel from the World Trade Center towers.

We remember their courage, sacrifice and the ultimate price they paid while trying to save others.

Never forgotten.

The 'Career Incident Management Training' team have been in town this week, putting Nelson crews through their paces.

The course provides tactical command training, focusing on Incident Management, Command Structure, Situational Awareness, Communication, Safety and Risk assessment.

Awesome experience! Thank you.
