We regularly work along side our neighbouring Richmond Volunteer Fire Brigade, and so we are always open to training together as well.
Working together like this not only strengthens our relationship but also helps prepare everyone for the challenges of the job.
It is always great watching new recruits honing their skills and confidence crawling through the BATB (Breathing apparatus training building), and all other aspects of the job.
To top it all off, they completely caught us by surprise today by dropping off a box of goodies for each watch as a thank-you.
It was a genuinely thoughtful gesture and one that was hugely appreciated by everyone.

Thanks Richmond Brigade!

We look forward to many more training sessions together in the future.

Tomorrow marks a milestone none of us could have imagined. It will be our 50th strike, and still silence from our employers in the way of wanting to bargain or settle.
Come on down to the carpark by the Nelson Tile and Slate/Briscoes/Rebel Sport, for a free sausage sizzle. We will be there from 1130- 1245 handing out sausages and answering any questions you may have.

50 strikes is nothing to celebrate—it’s a severe failure of leadership.

Firefighters and dispatchers should be on the frontlines keeping you safe, not forced onto the picket line 50 times just to demand basic safety and resources. 🚨

Two crews from Nelson attended a commercial building this morning after a worker discovered smoke upon arriving at work.

Firefighters made entry and located a small fire inside the building, which was quickly extinguished before it could spread further.

A timely reminder that "fire gets real, fast".
Early detection and a quick call to 111 can make all the difference.
