Under National, Kiwis pay for Luxon’s cuts. The support worker at your kids’ school. Border inspectors, family caseworkers. Hardworking Kiwis who hold our communities together. Public services aren’t safe under Luxon.

Every time National has opened the books since the 2023 election, the books have looked worse due to decisions made by Nicola Willis than while Labour was in government and Ms Willis' current forecasts rely on Trump's "excursion" to Iran to wrap up quickly. 🤔

We need to cut through Luxon’s spin and be straight with New Zealanders:

The Budget is a failure on every count.

No cost of living relief. Higher costs. Savage cuts to services and jobs. Higher unemployment. Slower growth than expected.

Luxon’s plan is hurting - and it's not working.

National decided to give tax cuts to to***co companies and property speculators, now they’re asking Kiwis to pay for it.

Luxon is sacking thousands of people who deliver essential services Kiwis rely on. That was a choice and he didn't choose you.

The support worker at your kids' school. The border inspector. The family caseworker. Vital jobs are at risk.

It will mean longer wait times, less support, and higher costs.

Kiwis were already waiting longer to see a doctor. Groceries cost more. And it’s never been harder to cover the essentials.

National's latest Budget will make it all worse. More cuts, more pain, higher costs.

A Labour government will be focused on real action on the cost of living and what matters most - your job, your health, your home, so everyone can build their future here.

Cutting services while giving a selection few tax breaks does not grow the economy.

Labour's Education spokesperson Ginny Anderson's analysis of the Budget for Vote Education.

This was supposed to be the Budget that turned things around for New Zealanders. Instead, it’s more cuts, more pressure, and more people falling behind.

And for education? This is a nothing-for-education Budget. Schools are crying out for more learning support staff, teacher aides, and help in classrooms - instead the Government is spending money importing overseas books that many schools don’t even want.

They’ve found more money for the Education Review Office to rank schools and label some as “schools of concern”, and $18 million for the Ministry of Education to take over work that was already being done by the Teaching Council.

School operational funding has gone up just 2 percent - which doesn’t even keep up with inflation. In real terms, that’s a cut. Operational funding helps schools pay for learning support, this just piles more pressure onto already stretched classrooms and teachers.

But don’t worry - schools gets $2,000 for music boxes for kids. I do wonder who’ll end up getting that contract. Meanwhile unemployment is up, businesses are closing, power bills and rents keep rising, and more families are struggling to make ends meet.

This Government promised New Zealanders they would make life easier. Instead they’ve made things harder, while pretending everything is on track.

New Zealand children deserve better than this.
