POWER OUTAGE UPDATE: MADANG & MEIRO AREAS

​Please be advised that we are currently experiencing a partial power outage affecting the Madang and Meiro areas.
​
Our main exporting transmission line (L605) tripped off due to an unknown transient fault (a temporary spike or disruption on the line).

​All customers in Madang and the entire Meiro Substation area are currently without power.

​The exact cause of the fault is still being investigated.

​Our technical teams are actively working on restoration efforts right now to get the power back online as safely and quickly as possible.

​We appreciate your patience and will keep you posted as more updates become available.

LOADSHEDING FEEDERS

​Please be advised of the current status of the power supply on the Taraka network:

​Taraka Feeder 2:
Power was successfully restored at 7:16 PM following earlier interruptions.

​Taraka Feeder 4:
Currently on Load Shedding at 3.0MW due to generation capacity limits.

Our teams will safely restore power to Feeder 4 as soon as grid generation levels improve.

​We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to stabilize the Ramu Grid.

Further updates will be provided as the situation changes.

POM Grid Update
Emergency Outages – Kone Feeder 4 and Boroko Feeder 5

This is an advisory to all our valued customers within POM Grid that the following Feeders will be isolated tonight, for an emergency maintenance work.

Kone Feeder 4
US Embassy Line Drop Out Fuse needs to be replaced to correct power supply within the feeder.

Boroko Feeder 5
A hotspot needs to be corrected infront of the PNG Power HQ Tee-Off to the residences.

Time: 10:00pm – 12:00am (2 Hours)

Customers are advised to use alternate power sources during these times.

EMERGENCY POWER ADVISORY: RAMU GRID LOAD SHEDDING

Issued at 10:45 AM on 7 June 2026.

Please be advised that the Sneath IPP Hydro Plant at Baiune is currently shut down due to technical issues, resulting in a 9.0 MW generation shortfall across the Ramu System.

Emergency load shedding is in effect, impacting major feeders: Taraka Feeder 5, Milford Feeder 4, and Dobel Feeder 3.

Restoration is expected around 1:00 PM as technical teams work to resolve the issue.

The public is thanked for their patience during this time.

​Please be advised that our technical teams will be conducting essential planned maintenance work on the Madang Feeder 3 (Fdr3) network.

​To ensure the safety of our crew while they carry out these upgrades, a temporary power interruption will affect the following areas:

​Affected Areas:
​Madang Town & Residences,
​Modilon Hospital,
​Divine Word University (DWU),
​Madang Technical College & Maritime College,
​Madang Hotel, Smugglers Inn, & Coastwatchers
​Jomba, Newtown, Yagaum, and Jant Timbers.

Power will be safely restored as soon as the maintenance work is successfully completed.

​We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve network reliability in your area.
