PUBLIC NOTICE
TO THE WEST PAPUAN RESIDENTS IN MILNE BAY PROVINCE

We will be conducting a verification and registration exercise in Alotau, Milne Bay province to regularise the status of West Papuans.

This is an important process and we require the full cooperation and attendance of all West Papuans in Milne Bay province.

This verification and registration process will enable you to either opt for Papua New Guinea citizenship or to apply for a valid visa to legitimise your stay in Papua New Guinea. Living in PNG without a valid visa is a violation of the Migration Act and will result in your continued presence deemed unlawful.

Please take note of the details of this exercise.

Date: 30th of August – 05th of September, 2026. (Tuesday to Friday)
Venue: WANIGILI CENTRE, ALOTAU, MILNE BAY PROVINCE
Time: 9am – 3pm daily

Things to Bring:
1. School certificates, Marriage Certificates, Birth Certificate
2. Employment ID, School ID, Driver License, etc
3. Registration Slips

On behalf of the Government, we are pleased to announce the granting of Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬 citizenship to 20 individuals today in Port Moresby. These men and women have long relationship with the country and have good standing in our communities - contributing meaningfully in their respective spaces.

We have the pleasure to host the Deputy Prime Minister Hon. John Rosso, MP who accompanied the Minister for Immigration and Border Security Hon. William Bando, MP today in issuing the citizenship certificates to three (3) naturalization citizen and seventeen (17) dual citizenship holders. Amongst the recipients are seven (7) Papua New Guinea citizens who were granted the permission to seek dual citizenship with a prescribed country.

Digital Arrival Card mandatory for all Incoming passengers

The Papua New Guinea Digital Arrival Card (PNGDAC) is a mandatory pre-arrival requirement for all inbound passengers including PNG Citizens, Permanent Residents and all foreign nationals.

The advises all international airlines, ground handling agents and check-in personnel to ensure strict compliance of this measure. All inbound travellers must complete their Digital Arrival Card before receiving their boarding pass(es) for travel into PNG.

We’re moving!

We have relocated our Office in Buin town, South Bougainville, Autonomous Region of Bougainville.

Our clients in Buin, South Bougainville and our wantoks from the other side of the maritime border in the Shortland Islands of Solomon Islands, who seek our assistance with migration services, including traditional border crossing passes can find us at our new location.

PNG Immigration is aware of a “misconduct” allegation on social media and will address it administratively.

The Papua New Guinea Immigration and Citizenship Service Authority (ICSA) has acknowledged the receipt of a complaint raised by a citizen accusing an Immigration Officer for “professional misconduct” and is aware that the same allegation is circulating on social media this week.

The complainant alleged that the officer threatened to cancel his PNG passport and further made reference to cancel his visa into another country.

ICSA is aware of the ongoing personal differences expressed in the social media between the two individuals and wishes to distance itself from their online exchanges. However, ICSA takes
all allegations of misconduct against the Authority or an officer of the Authority very seriously and we will take appropriate steps to address them administratively through the Public Service
code of conduct and ICSA HR Policy.

In response to the allegations of professional misconduct by the officer, ICSA wishes to state that the alleged statement by the officer is inappropriate and misleading. This is not how we
conduct our compliance and enforcement business under the laws that we administer. It is a misrepresentation of the ‘Authority’, the Chief Migration Officer and the Minister for Immigration
and Border Security.

Work performed by any ICSA officer is strictly governed by the relevant laws we administer, and all legal authority vested in an officer must be exercised with utmost responsibility and in
a transparent and accountable manner.

On the alleged threats by an officer to cancel a PNG passport, we want to inform our citizens that only the Minister responsible for the administration of the PNG Passport Act has the legal
powers to refuse an application for a PNG passport or cancel a valid PNG passport that has been issued to a citizen. Even these powers by the Minister must be exercised responsibly.
