The Cordillera Overseas Contract Workers and Families Multi-Purpose Cooperative, one of DTI Benguet’s recognized consumer groups, joins the pre-Consumer Welfare Month (CWM) celebration by serving as a multiplier in the Department’s education and information campaign to promote consumer awareness of various Fair Trade Laws.

Anchored on this year’s CWM theme, “Safe Products, Confident Consumers,” the cooperative actively supported consumer education through the distribution of information materials and the conduct of awareness activities for its members on consumer-related laws and regulations.

The group also encouraged its members to patronize products that comply with applicable technical regulations, observe Price Tag and Labeling requirements, and participate in activities promoting consumer rights and responsibilities.
Through these initiatives, the cooperative continues to help empower consumers to make informed and responsible choices while contributing to the Department’s efforts to promote a fair, safe, and consumer-friendly marketplace.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Baguio-Benguet, in partnership with Puregold and the Provincial Government of Benguet, conducted the Handog ng Pangulo Diskwento Caravan on September 14, 2026 at the Benguet Sports Complex, Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet.

The activity aimed to provide consumers with access to essential goods at discounted prices, particularly basic necessities and prime commodities (BNPCs), while bringing DTI’s consumer welfare programs closer to the community. The caravan also supported the government’s efforts to provide practical savings to consumers amid prevailing economic concerns.

The successful conduct of the activity further strengthened the collaboration among DTI Baguio-Benguet, the Provincial Government of Benguet, and its private sector partner, Puregold, in promoting consumer welfare and ensuring access to reasonably priced essential goods. The activity likewise demonstrated the value of public-private partnerships in bringing government programs and services directly to consumers.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Baguio-Benguet Provincial Office conducted price and supply monitoring of Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities (BNPCs) in key trading areas in Atok, Buguias, and Mankayan, Benguet on September 16, 2026.

The activity focused on verifying the availability and prevailing prices of essential goods, particularly those covered by the price freeze following the declaration of a State of Calamity in the province. The monitoring aimed to assess compliance among business establishments, ensure the proper implementation of price regulations, and protect consumers from unreasonable price increases. Through this initiative, DTI continues to promote consumer welfare and fair trade practices during calamities.
