𝗜𝗡 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡: The police officers of the Baguio City Police Office (CPO) continue to step up their assistance and monitoring efforts across the city following the effects of Tropical Storm “Maymay,” on August 6, 2026.
In Barangay Pinsao Pilot, police officers from Police Station 2, alongside members of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) and local residents, worked together to address soil erosion in a community member’s backyard.
At the same time, personnel of the Tourist Police Unit remain on the ground conducting foot patrols, closely monitoring the water level at Burnham Lake, and clearing clogged drainage canals within Burnham Park to help prevent flooding and protect both residents and visitors.
These ongoing efforts reflect the commitment of Baguio CPO to responsive and community-centered policing, extending their service beyond law enforcement to include disaster response, environmental care, and public safety.

Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong has suspended face-to-face classes from Preschool to Grade 12 in both public and private schools on Friday, August 7, due to the Yellow Rainfall Warning issued by PAGASA.

To ensure learning continuity, schools shall implement the appropriate alternative delivery modalities, including:
• Modular Distance Learning
• Online Distance Learning
• Blended Learning, where applicable

Public schools shall implement the appropriate HINAY Protocol in accordance with Department of Education (DepEd) guidelines to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of learning.

The Number Coding Ordinance will be implemented.

The public is advised to remain vigilant and monitor official weather and safety advisories. In case of emergencies, call 911.

LOOK | Rescue teams from the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station (MPS), working alongside the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (BDRRMO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Municipal Health Unit (MHU), and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of La Trinidad, immediately responded to a landslide incident along Shilan Road near Bakaan Eatery in Barangay Shilan, La Trinidad, Benguet, on August 6, 2026.
Brought about by continuous heavy rains, the landslide sent mud, rocks, and debris onto the roadway, damaging part of an establishment and leaving several individuals stranded. Search and rescue operations remain in full swing as responders work together to reach affected persons, secure the area, and minimize further risks amid the prevailing weather conditions.

On August 6, 2026, PCOL RUEL D TAGEL , City Director, personally led the on-site visitation, assessment, and monitoring of identified high-risk areas in Baguio City to evaluate existing conditions and ensure the readiness of police personnel for possible emergencies.

The activity forms part of BCPO's proactive disaster preparedness and public safety efforts through continuous monitoring, coordination, and timely response to potential risks, reinforcing its commitment to safeguarding lives and communities.
