Training in Basic Filipino Sign Language for PWD Focals, PDAO President, and Selected LGU Staff

On September 18-19, 2025, a comprehensive Training on Basic Filipino Sign Language was held at the Mgrand Royale Resort, Catbalogan City. The event was attended by PWD Focals, the PDAO President, and selected staff from the Local Government Units (LGUs), with the aim to foster better communication and understanding of the needs of the Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the community.

Objectives of the Training:

✅ Promote Inclusivity: To ensure that PWDs are empowered through the ability to communicate with various members of the community.
✅ Build Awareness: To educate LGU staff and community focal persons on the importance of accessibility and communication for PWDs.
✅ Enhance Skills: To equip participants with the basic skills in Filipino Sign Language, enhancing their capacity to assist and engage with the PWD sector effectively.
✅ Strengthen Collaboration: To strengthen partnerships between local government units, PDAO, and PWDs in ensuring equal access and opportunities for all.

The training was an insightful and empowering experience for everyone involved, as it reinforced the importance of accessibility, inclusivity, and active support for our PWD community.

Let’s continue working together to make our community a place where everyone, regardless of ability, can thrive!

Being your Social Worker 🫰🫰🫰

When doctors make a diagnosis, hindi natin minamadali,
When lawyers studies for a case, hindi natin minamadali,
When police make an investigation, hindi natin minamadali,
When teachers are finishing a lesson, hindi natin minamadali,
When architects make a plan, hindi natin minamadali,
When engineers make those plans, hindi rin natin minamadali,
Pero bakit pag social workers ang gumagawa ng Social Case Study and/or gumagawa ng assessment para sa hinihingi nating assistance, gusto natin madaliin? Social Worker's Case Studies kagaya ng doctor's diagnosis, lawyer's cases, teacher's LP, Architect's plans and Engineer's works can change or alter ang buhay ng isang tao. Lahat ng aspects ng buhay ng client ay need namin iconsider. Comprehensive, Factual and Evidence-based.
So wag kayo magalit kung may kaunting delay dahil isang beses niyo lang gagawin yan. Yung mga Social Workers, kulang pa minsan ang isang araw to attend to every client's needs.

Let that sink in.
