LOOK | PSA, BPI partner to streamline account opening through National ID authentication

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) signed a subscription contract for the integration of National ID authentication services into the bank's operations.

Through this partnership, the BPI is able to conduct identity verification through facial recognition or live selfie for National ID holders opening an account in their mobile banking app. The integration promotes a faster, more secure, and seamless account opening experience while strengthening digital identity verification and supporting financial inclusion.

Present during the ceremony were key PSA officials, led by Assistant Secretary Rosalinda P. Bautista, Deputy National Statistician of the PhilSys Registry Office, Assistant National Statistician Vazir Joshua S. Querol of the Systems and Information Security Service, and Officer-in-Charge Assistant National Statistician Henedine P. Palabras of the Use Case Development and Management Service. BPI representatives were also in attendance, headed by President and Chief Executive Officer Jose Teodoro L. Limcaoco, along with Head of Consumer Banking Ginbee Go, and Chief Technology Officer Alex Seminiano.

This milestone reflects the LGUs' commitment to promoting evidence-based planning and improving the lives of their constituents through data-driven governance.

This Nutrition Month, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), through its Gender and Development (GAD) Unit, joins the call to promote better nutrition and healthier futures for every Filipino child.

๐Ÿ“Š Statistics show that our children still face significant nutritional challenges. Based on the 2023 National Nutrition Survey, as cited in the 2026 Fact Sheet on Women and Men in the Philippines; here is the nutritional status of children aged 5-10 years:
๐Ÿ‘ฆ 23.0% of male children and 19.5% of female children aged 5โ€“10 years are underweight.
๐Ÿ“ 19.3% of male children and 16.4% of female children aged 5โ€“10 years are stunted.
โš–๏ธ 14.2% of male children and 11.5% of female children aged 5โ€“10 years are overweight for their height.
๐ŸŽ 8.9% of male children and 7.8% of female children aged 5โ€“10 years are experiencing wasting.

The integration enables GoTyme Bank Corp. to perform secure, real-time identity verification for users who use the National ID to open an account via its mobile application or established kiosks, enhancing banking security.

GoTyme Bank recognizes various National ID formats, including the Digital National ID and the National ID in paper format, when opening an account. This collaboration champions financial inclusion and encourages more Filipinos to register for the National ID.
