Putting Skills into Action at Dao Falls
The Swift Water Safety Search and Rescue Training enters its third day with a Simulation Exercise (SIMEX) at the scenic Dao Falls in Samboan, where participants put their newly acquired knowledge and skills to the test in a realistic rescue environment.
Organized by the Cebu Provincial Government, through the Cebu Provincial Tourism Office, in coordination with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and the Municipality of Samboan, the exercise allows local tourism guides and frontliners to practice swift water rescue techniques, emergency response procedures, teamwork, and incident management under simulated field conditions.
By conducting hands-on training in an actual tourism destination, participants gain valuable experience that strengthens their readiness to respond to emergencies while helping ensure that Cebuโs waterfalls, rivers, and nature-based attractions remain safe and enjoyable for both residents and visitors.
Through initiatives like this, the Province of Cebu continues to champion safe, responsible, and resilient tourism, empowering communities to protect lives while showcasing the beauty of Cebuโs natural wonders.
