Hello, Ka-Listo! In today’s episode, Hon. Rizalyn Javarez of Barangay San Manuel, Puerto Princesa City, joined our hosts from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), Mr. Cedric Buena and Ms. Haidi Delos Santos.

The program highlighted the various projects, programs, and DRRM initiatives being implemented in Barangay San Manuel. Hon. Javarez emphasized the importance of their services, ranging from health care to environmental protection, in strengthening community resilience.

Barangay Matiyaga was also recognized for its close collaboration with the CDRRMO, NGOs, and private sector partners to ensure immediate support during times of crisis. This collaboration was especially evident during the flooding caused by the shear line, where the barangay worked tirelessly to prepare and respond effectively to the disaster.

Despite these challenges, the community of Barangay San Manuel demonstrated swift and coordinated action. Hon. Javarez expressed gratitude to the residents for their cooperation, particularly in disaster risk reduction and management activities. Their active participation continues to build a stronger, more prepared community.

She also encouraged everyone to join their ongoing tree-planting initiatives, where mangroves are being cultivated as natural barriers against flooding and coastal hazards.

𝗖𝗗𝗥𝗥𝗠𝗢 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘 | Search and Rescue Operations for Missing Hiker at Mt. Beaufort

The Puerto Princesa City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) confirmed a successful rescue of a missing hiker at Mt. Beaufort, Barangay Irawan, Puerto Princesa City.

At approximately 7:35 PM on May 22, 2026, CDRRMO personnel received a report from Barangay Irawan Secretary Lenny Recabo regarding a missing hiker in the area. Immediate coordination was established with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), leading to the conduct of a joint Search and Rescue operations involving the CDRRMO SRR Team, PNP Station 2, and the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee (BDRRMC) Response Team of Irawan.

Following extensive search operations throughout the night, the hiker, identified as a 19-year-old male resident of Wescom Road, Barangay San Miguel, Puerto Princesa City was successfully located and rescued at approximately 2:40 AM on May 23, 2026.

The City Government of Puerto Princesa commends the swift coordination, teamwork, and dedication of all responding agencies whose immediate actions ensured the safe recovery of the missing hiker.

The public is reminded to exercise caution when hiking in mountainous areas and to inform local authorities or companions of planned treks to help ensure safety during outdoor activities.

CDRRMO UPDATE | 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗮𝗻, 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝘂𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗱, 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗻

On Thursday’s episode of “Listong Pamahalaan, Listong Kumunidad, Listong Tahanan," the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) featured Mr. Jakiri Illescas from the Puerto Princesa City Solid Waste Management Office, together with program hosts Mrs. Amie Bonales and Haidi Delos Santos.

Mr. Illescas highlighted the mandate of the Solid Waste Management Program under the mayor’s office, which ensures proper collection, segregation, disposal, and landfill management across the city’s 66 barangays. He shared that Puerto Princesa maintains a 24-hour garbage collection system, with agricultural waste directed to composting areas and residual waste disposed of in the sanitary landfill.

He also discussed the city’s recycling initiative, supported by the European Union, which aims to process plastic bottles into new byproducts. A recycling site is being prepared in Irawan to strengthen this effort. While systems are in place, Mr. Illescas emphasized that segregation must begin at home. He encouraged households to separate biodegradable waste from non-biodegradable materials, practice composting even in small spaces, and recognize recycling as both an environmental responsibility and an economic opportunity.

Lastly, he called on barangay leaders to strengthen their Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) and reminded residents that discipline at home is equally vital.

This episode underscored that solid waste management is a shared responsibility—from government leaders to every household. With stronger community participation, Puerto Princesa can achieve a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment.

Hello, Ka‑Listo! In today’s episode, our hosts from the City Information Office and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), Mrs. Amie Bonales and Ms. Haidi Delos Santos, were joined by our special guest, Hon. Gardo R. Inquig of Barangay Matiyaga, Puerto Princesa City.

The program highlighted the projects that Barangay Matiyaga aims to implement, including initiatives under its Barangay DRRM Plan. Captain Inquig underscored the importance of these services in preparing for potential emergencies and disasters. He also shared the hazards their barangay has faced in recent years. Despite these challenges, their community has been able to respond swiftly and effectively, partly because of the barangay’s relatively small coverage area.

In such situations, Barangay Matiyaga works closely with the CDRRMO, NGOs, and even private sector establishments within the community to ensure immediate support during times of crisis.

Captain Inquig also expressed his gratitude to the residents of Barangay Matiyaga for their cooperation, especially in activities related to disaster risk reduction and management. Their active participation continues to strengthen the community’s resilience and preparedness.

Inaasahan na ang ilang bahagi ng Long March 7 rocket ay mahuhulog sa loob ng mga tinukoy na drop zones (DZ): Tinatayang 34 NM ang layo mula sa Bajo de Masinloc, 97 NM ang layo mula sa Cabra Island, Occidental Mindoro at 130 NM ang layo mula sa Busuanga Palawan.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), through its Research and Planning Section, formally launched the Follow-through Hazards Contingency Planning Workshop FY 2026–2029 today, May 5, 2026, together with members of the DRRM Response Clusters and partner stakeholders. The three-day workshop will run until May 7, 2026, at Alexandria Hall, AKC Country Homes, Barangay San Manuel, Puerto Princesa City.

This follow-through activity aims to strengthen and update the City’s contingency plans for the identified priority hazards, ensuring more coordinated, efficient, and timely disaster response operations. Aside from the usual five priority hazards (Fire, Flood, Storm Surge, Tsunami, and Drought) being reviewed and enhanced, the workshop also includes the formulation of the Sanitary Landfill Fire Contingency Plan to further strengthen the City’s preparedness and response mechanisms for emerging and site-specific risks.

Through collaborative planning and technical discussions, the activity is expected to reinforce inter-agency coordination, clarify operational protocols, and build a stronger foundation for disaster preparedness and emergency response for FY 2026–2029.
