PNP STATEMENT ON THE RECOVERY OF ABANDONED CASKETS IN METRO MANILA

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is aware of the circulating videos and social media posts regarding abandoned caskets reportedly found in different parts of Metro Manila.

The concerned police units are validating each reported incident and are coordinating with the respective local government units and other appropriate agencies to determine the circumstances surrounding the recovery of the caskets. The recovered caskets, together with other materials found at the scene, have been secured as part of the investigation to establish their origin, purpose, and whether any laws or local ordinances may have been violated.

The PNP encourages the public to rely only on verified information from official sources and to refrain from sharing unverified claims or speculation that may cause unnecessary confusion. Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is encouraged to report it to the nearest police station, through official PNP communication channels, or by calling Unified 911.

The PNP assures the public that the matter is being looked into by the concerned police units in coordination with the appropriate authorities. Updates will be provided, as necessary, based on verified information and the progress of the investigation.

P3.8-M smuggled ci******es seized in Davao Oriental

The Philippine National Police (PNP) confiscated about Php 3.84 million worth of suspected smuggled ci******es during an operation in San Isidro, Davao Oriental, on Aug. 3.

The joint operation in Barangay Manikling involved personnel from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, San Isidro Municipal Police Station and Regional Intelligence Unit 11.

Police arrested two suspects, aged 41 and 18, during the operation.

Authorities recovered 59 master cases of ci******es believed to have entered the country illegally.

The seized items were turned over for documentation and proper disposition.

The suspects remained in police custody while authorities prepared the appropriate charges.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez said the seizure helped protect legitimate businesses and government revenues from losses caused by smuggling.

The PNP said it would continue coordinating with partner agencies to curb illegal trade and strengthen enforcement against smuggling activities.

Chinese-owned Cavite warehouse yields P700-M in fake shoes

Police seized an estimated Php 700 million worth of counterfeit footwear from a warehouse in Imus City, Cavite, during a joint operation on Aug. 3.

The Philippine National Police said the facility in Barangay Alapan II-A was allegedly being used to package, store and sell fake shoes carrying the marks of well-known international brands.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) led the operation with the Bureau of Customs (BOC), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and other law enforcement units.

Authorities inspected the warehouse under a mission order and letter of authority issued by the Bureau of Customs.

The Chinese owner of the facility remained at large and was facing possible estafa charges in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act, according to police.

The confiscated products were placed under the custody of the Bureau of Customs for inventory, documentation and proper disposition.

Police said the operation followed verified intelligence that the warehouse was involved in the storage and distribution of counterfeit and allegedly substandard footwear.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez said authorities would continue pursuing illegal businesses that deceive consumers and undermine legitimate traders.

CIDG nabs faith healer for owning unlicensed guns

The Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested a faith healer in Cavite, following a complaint from a patient regarding its alleged fraudulent scheme.

According to Cavite CIDG Chief Lt. Col. Mark Jason Gatdula, aside from offering healing services, the faith healer was also selling amulets, locally known as anting-anting, as protection against bullets.

Gatdula added that the faith healer also possesses unlicensed guns.

“Pinagyabang po ng ating albularyo ang kanyang mga di-lisensiyadong baril kagaya ng caliber 357, 45, at ng 22,” he said

Hence, the authorities arrested him. The faith healer is currently in CIDG custody and will face charges for violating Republic Act 10591 o Comprehensive Fi****ms and Ammunition Law.

BOC seizes P700M counterfeit footwear in Cavite raid

The Bureau of Customs (BOC), in coordination with the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) and the Philippine Coast Guard, seized suspected counterfeit imported footwear worth an estimated P700 million during an inspection of a warehouse in Imus City, Cavite, on August 3.

The operation was launched after the PNP-CIDG Cavite provincial field unit provided intelligence information on the alleged presence of imported goods suspected of violating customs and intellectual property laws, BOC said.

Following the report, the BOC issued a letter of authority and sent a combined enforcement team to inspect the warehouse.

The team comprised of personnel from the BOC’s Intellectual Property Rights Division, Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS)-Port of Batangas, CIIS-Port of Manila, CIIS-Manila International Container Port, Enforcement and Security Service, and Legal Service, together with representatives from the PNP-CIDG Cavite provincial field unit, PNP Imus Component City Police Station, and the Coast Guard.

During the inspection, customs operatives discovered footwear bearing trademarks of Adidas, On Cloud, New Balance, Asics, Crocs, Nike, Jordan, Puma, Converse, Skechers, and Louis Vuitton.

Customs commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno thanked the CIDG and other partner agencies for providing timely intelligence and supporting the enforcement operation.

“On behalf of the Bureau of Customs, we extend our gratitude to the CIDG and our other partner agencies for their vital information and cooperation. This underscores the importance of strong inter‑agency collaboration in preventing illicit goods from entering the market and in protecting the interests of Filipino consumers and legitimate businesses,” Nepomuceno said.

Customs seizes P700M worth of fake footwear

AUTHORITIES uncovered an estimated P700 million worth of suspected counterfeit imported footwear at a warehouse in Imus City, Cavite, one of the largest intellectual property enforcement operations mounted this year by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and its partners.

The operation stemmed from intelligence information provided by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Cavite Provincial Field Unit, which reported the alleged presence of imported merchandise suspected of violating customs and intellectual property laws.

BOC’s inspection team was composed of personnel from the Intellectual Property Rights Division (IPRD), the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS), the Enforcement and Security Service (ESS), and the legal service.

They were joined by operatives from the PNP-CIDG Cavite Provincial Field Unit, the PNP Imus Component City Police Station, and the Philippine Coast Guard.

Authorities discovered thousands of pairs of footwear bearing internationally recognized trademarks, including Adidas, On Cloud, New Balance, Asics, Crocs, Nike, Jordan, Puma, Converse, Skechers, and Louis Vuitton (LV).

Based on the initial inventory and valuation conducted by Customs authorities, the seized merchandise has an estimated market value of P700 million, one of the largest counterfeit footwear discoveries in recent months.

Inventory, verification, and legal proceedings are now underway to determine the origin of the shipments, identify the parties responsible for their importation and storage, and establish possible violations of customs, tariff and intellectual property regulations.

Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno commended the CIDG and the agency’s partner organizations for their timely intelligence sharing and operational support that led to the successful inspection.

“This shows the value of strong interagency cooperation in preventing illicit goods from reaching the market and protecting the interests of Filipino consumers and legitimate businesses,” Nepomuceno said on Wednesday.

Iginiit ng mga awtoridad na ang kampanya laban sa smuggling ay layong maprotektahan ang ekonomiya, suportahan ang mga lehitimong negosyo, at mapangalagaan ang interes ng publiko. Wala naman nahuling suspek sa nasabing pagsalakay.

Mahigit ₱3.8-M halaga ng umano’y iligal na sigarilyo, nakumpiska sa sa Davao Oriental

Arestado ng mga operatiba ng Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) ang dalawang lalaki matapos mahulihan ng umano’y iligal na sigarilyo sa San Isidro, Davao Oriental.

Nakumpiska sa kanila ang 59 na master cases ng umano’y iligal na sigarilyo na tinatayang nagkakahalaga ng mahigit ₱3.8 million.

Ayon sa ulat ng pulisya, ang mga nasabing narekober na sigarilyo ay walang Graphic Health Warnings at BIR Excise Tax Stamps.

Dahil dito, nahaharap sa kasong paglabag sa Republic Act No. 10643 o Graphic Health Warnings Law at Republic Act No. 8424 o National Internal Revenue Code of 1997 ang mga nasabing naarestong indibidwal.

CIDG AND FDA SEIZE PHP 2.2M ALLEGED UNREGISTERED COOKING OIL AND SOY SAUCE IN SOUTHERN LEYTE

On August 3, 2026 at around 5:00 PM, the CIDG Southern Leyte Provincial Field Unit together with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)- Regional Field Office 8, conducted a law enforcement operation in for violations of of Republic Act No. 3720 (Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act), as amended, and Republic Act No. 9711 (Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009), in Brgy. Zone V, Poblacion, Sogod, Southern Leyte that resulted in the arrest of two (2) suspects, and the confiscation of alleged unregistered food products- palm/refined cooking oil and soy sauce, with estimated value of Php2,244,720.00.

A report that reached PMGEN Robert AA Morico II, the Director of CIDG, stated that the arrested suspects, male and female, both of legal age, were caught while trading the cooking oil and soy sauce without certification issued by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) rendering the products unauthorized for distribution and sale to consumers.

The Director of the CIDG emphasized that pursuant to the Republic Act No. 9711 (Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009), the manufacture, importation, sale, offering for sale, distribution, transfer of health and food products without the required registration and authorization from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is prohibited.

The distribution and selling of the unregistered cooking oil and soy sauce is a circumvention of food safety standards requirements of the government. Since these food products have not gone through the evaluation process of the FDA, its quality and safety cannot be assured.

The CIDG leadership lauds PLTCOL Ian N Datiles, the Officer-In-Charge, CIDG Regional Field Unit 8, and the CIDG Southern Leyte Provincial Field Unit led by PCPT Norberto B Saboriendo for the confiscation of the unregistered food products, and arrest of the violators of law. It underscores the Unit’s commitment in fighting all illegal trading of consumer products across the country.

The CIDG assures the public of its steadfast resolve in enforcing all the laws to protect all consumers, and urges the public to be cautious in buying consumer products— check on the label and FDA Registration Number. It advises everyone to use the FDA Verification Portal (verification.fda.gov.ph) to cross-check every brand; and report to CIDG - all warehouse, store, or online seller offering or selling unregistered food products, and the CIDG will do the rest.
