DEPED'S PROPOSED 2027 BUDGET LOWER BY P44 BILLION, SEVERAL PROGRAMS AFFECTED

Speaking on , ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. Antonio Tinio said the proposed P914 billion budget for the Department of Education (DepEd) for 2027, while still the largest among government agencies, is actually P44 billion lower than its current year's budget. He said this significant cut has resulted in reduced funding for several DepEd programs.

Tinio said the biggest reduction came from the classroom construction budget, with cuts also made to textbooks and the school feeding program.

READ: ACT Teachers Rep. Antonio Tinio on Friday said the scheduled salary increases for public school teachers remained insufficient to keep pace with the rising cost of living in the country.

Tinio made the remark ahead of the fourth and final tranche of salary adjustments for civilian government employees, which the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) was set to implement on Jan. 1, 2027.

“Merong konting increase, pero aminado na rin ang DBM na yung programmed increase na yan, kapos dahil nga mas mataas yung inflation kumpara doon sa projection nila noon,” Tinio told Bilyonaryo News Channel’s “Memo with Korina” program.

“Ang usual na sagot ng DBM diyan, ‘Magkakaroon pa ng study para ma-determine kung ano yung amount na dapat i-increase,’” he added.

While the proposed P7.2-trillion national budget for 2027 provided P976 billion for the Department of Education, Tinio said the allocation was still insufficient to finance salary increases beyond those already programmed by the government.

“Walang sapat na pondo para sa mas mataas na increase kaysa doon sa nakaprograma,” he added.

Tinio and other members of the Makabayan bloc were pushing for the passage of House Bill No. 203, which would raise the minimum entry-level monthly salary of public school teachers to P50,000.

They argued that the current entry-level salary of around P31,705 was no longer enough to keep up with inflation and the rising prices of basic goods.

Talagang itong si Usec. Castro, tatawaging puti ang itim, madepensahan lang ang bilyones na confidential and intelligence funds ng Presidente.

Paanong transparent?Samantalang walang kaalam-alam ang publiko kung para saan ginagastos ang Php 4.55 billion na CIF ng Office of the President kada taon, labas pa sa ibang mga ahensyang may CIF?

Isa pa itong si Executive Secretsry Recto. Pinagmamalaki na may "unmodified opinion" ang COA sa financial statements ng Office of the President. Huwag kami. Ganyang-ganyan din ang sinabi ng Office of the Vice President sa mga nagkukuwestiyon sa Confidential Funds nito. Ngayon lantad na ang garapal na pag-abuso ng OVP sa kabila ng so-called unmodified opinion.

Sa katunayan, required ng batas na magsubmit sa Kongreso ang lahat ng ahensiya na may confidential funds, sa pangunguna ng Office of the President, ng quarterly accomplishment report sa paggamit nito.

Kung totoo ngang transparent, isapubliko ng Presidente ang detalyadong quarterly accomplishment reports para sa mahigit 18.2 billion na confidential and intelligence funds ng Office of the President mula 2023 hanggang 2026. Nakakalula ang halagang ito kaya deserve ng mamamayan ang paliwanag. Kung anong pagbusisi sa confidential funds ng Bise Presidente, dapat ganun din sa Presidente. Otherwise, their so-called transparency is just fake news.

Ipinaliwanag ng kongresista na dapat ding igawad ang kortesiyang ito sa

Ipinunto rin ni Nazal ang umano’y bigat ng kinakaharap na impeachment proceedings ng bise at ang pagliit ng pondo ng kaniyang opisina.

Tinutulan naman ito ni ACT Teachers Rep. Antonio Tinio.

Sa huli, iniatras ni Nazal ang kaniyang mosyon matapos pumayag ang mga opisyal ng OVP na sumagot sa mga tanong.

HONORARIA INCREASE FOR ELECTION WORKERS, ISINUSULONG SA KAMARA! ✊

Iginiit ni ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. Antonio Tinio sa pagdinig ng Commitee on Appropriations sa panukalang 2027 budget ng Commission on Elections (COMELEC) ang pagtaas ng honoraria ng mga g**o at election workers.

Binigyang-diin ni Tinio na kailangang maisama sa 2027 national budget ang dagdag na pondo para sa election service workers, anuman ang kahihinatnan sa nagbabadyang postponement ng Barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections sa November.

Tinukoy ni Tinio ang isinusulong ng ACT Teachers Party-list na pagtaas ng pondo para sa P2,000 na dagdag kompensasyon, na ayon kay COMELEC Chair George Garcia ay mangangailangan ng P2 bilyon hanggang P2.5 bilyon upang matustusan ang dagdag na ito.
