Suzuki Motor has announced that it will begin plant construction in Rayong, Thailand next week.
This development further cements Thailand’s role as a Southeast Asia vehicle-manufacturing hub. Suzuki plans to invest JPY20 billion (US$225 million) for the construction of the plant that will have facilities for pressing, welding, painting, assembly and engine production.
Production of the 1.3-liter cars is scheduled to start in March 2012. Suzuki expects that by the end of 2012, a total of 10,000 units of the new V-platform small car (known as the Micra in Europe and the March in Japan) will be rolled out.

Thailand offers golfers verdant courses - with amazing views of white sandy beachfronts, peaceful temples, and dense highlands - and can be played 365 days a year due to pleasant year-round temperatures.

"I think golfers in North America have an inkling that golf is played in Thailand; Europeans have slightly more of an inkling, but I don't think golfers on either continent fully realize that this is a country with more than 250 courses, many of them as good as you'll find anywhere in the world," said Mark Siegel, president of Bangkok-based golf tour operator Golfasian.

The case for a Bangkok Design District.
Thailand would be in a position to develop local products and services that may be exported and for which Thailand may ultimately become "known" as a principally creative-driven economy.
Much has been said about the importance of fostering the development of a creative economy. A start might begin with the creation of a Bangkok Design District to signal a fresh phase of growth and expansion for the arts, fashion, architecture and design in Thailand.

The shock economic crash of Dubai's giant state-owned holding firm Dubai World is unlikely to have any impact on the Thai economy, Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij said on Friday.

Finance minister sees thailands economic recovery largely unaffected by dubai.
Thailand's Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij said his country's economic recovery had not been put at risk by events in Dubai.

'Bubble signs normally come from the property sector and stock market. There is no price pressure in the [Thai] property sector and the roughly 60 percent stock rally this year has fairly reflected improving corporate earnings and economic fundamentals,' he said.

Dubai was an accident waiting to happen, and the problems with its debt repayments have understandably sent shockwaves through global financial markets sensitive to the damage caused by last year's crisis.

Traffic keeps climbing in October

Air traffic through Thailand's six main airports continued to recover last month after bottoming out in August.
Combined passenger throughput in October rose by 13.88% year-on-year to 4.82 million, while flight numbers grew by 5.48% to 30,975, according to statistics compiled by Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT).
Cargo volume in October increased for the first time this year, growing by 1.38% to 108,605 tonnes.
The October figures showed traffic through Thai airports is returning thanks largely to greater political stability and the bottoming-out of the global recession.
