Learning from the community, one stitch at a time. 🧵💚

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming a group of University students from Germany to Second Chance Bangkok.

As part of their visit, they spent time learning more about the Khlong Toei community and the work we do at Second Chance Bangkok — including how we create opportunities through donated goods, our secondhand shop, and upcycling.

One of the highlights of the day was our sewing workshop, where our team shared their sewing skills and experience with the students. Together, they learned how to turn used fabrics into practical fabric bags, giving old materials a new purpose.

We love seeing knowledge and skills being shared across generations and cultures. Because sometimes, learning isn’t just about being taught — it’s about learning from one another. ✨

Meet Auntie Tui. 🧵💙
At 67, she is still creating, designing and sewing with her own hands.

This sewing machine bag was designed and made by Auntie Tui, one of our talented makers, using denim that had already been used — giving old fabric a new purpose.

She didn’t just sew a bag. She designed it to fit her sewing machine, making it practical, sturdy and uniquely hers.

Age doesn’t erase skills.
Years of experience can make them even more valuable.

At Second Chance Bangkok, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to use their skills, create something meaningful and continue to be part of the work they’re proud of.
