Newest intakes at the Otero County Animal Shelter. All animals are placed on a 72 hour hold from the time they enter the shelter. This hold allows the owners time to reclaim their animals.

If you see your animal or have any questions please stop by in person or call 575-434-2959.

Adoption fee: $100.00 for puppies and small breed dogs. $50.00 for adult dogs and cats Adoption includes spay/neuter, vaccines and microchip.

🐾 MEET HEATH! 🐾

Heath will be available for adoption FRIDAY, September 4th. His adoption fee is $100 this includes age appropriate vaccines, dewormer, a microchip and his neuter surgery.

This handsome little guy is on the hunt for his forever pack! He is a 12 week old Chihuahua Terrier Mix.

Heath is an outdoor enthusiast through and through. His current favorite pastimes include chasing bugs, collecting the finest sticks to chew, tearing around the yard with total zoomies, and wrestling with his doggy friends! 🐶✨

Because he takes so much comfort in canine companions, Heath would do best in a home with other dogs. He’s still a bit people-shy and prefers things on his terms when it comes to affection and handling.

Heath is looking for an understanding, patient adopter who will give him the space he needs to feel secure. The more comfortable he gets, the more his true personality blossoms—and trust us, he is turning into such a friendly, fun, and playful little guy! ❤️

We have puppies, adult dogs, kittens and adult cats all ready to go home!

All adoptions include age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormer, a microchip and the spay/ neuter surgery.

Adoption Fees:

Puppies (under 6 months) $100

🐾 SPECIAL NEEDS PUPPY ALERT: MEET LOUIE! 🐾

Meet Louie! This handsome 6-month-old Aussie mix is a total lovebug with a huge personality! 💙

Louie is believed to be deaf and visually impaired. However, he doesn't let that slow him down one bit! He can see shapes and lights—his foster mom even uses light cues to get his attention, and he responds like a total champ. ✨

Why you’ll fall in love with Louie:

Social Butterfly: He loves EVERYONE! Cats, kids, and especially other dogs.

Toy Collector: He is crazy about his toys—benebones and Nerf tennis balls are his current favorites!

Life of the Party: He wants all the scratches, cuddles, and attention he can possibly get.

Smart Cookie: Walks on a leash with a little guidance and is potty trained when kept on a timely schedule!

Home Requirements:
Because of his special needs, Louie requires an adopter or rescue with experience caring for blind/deaf dogs.He can NOT be an outside dog as he does not have instincts to protect himself. His future home MUST have another dog to help guide him and keep him confident! A meet-and-greet is required to ensure the perfect fit for everyone. 🐶❤️
