Alamogordo Police Department’s K9 Odin has received donation of body armor.

Alamogordo Police Department’s K9 Odin has received a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Odin’s vest was embroidered with the sentiment “Born to Love-Trained to Serve-Loyal Always”.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. This potentially lifesaving body armor for four-legged K9 is U.S. made, custom fitted, and NIJ certified. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 3,970 vests to K9s in all 50 states at a value of $6.9 million, made possible by both private and corporate donations.

The program is open to U.S. dogs that are at least 20 months old, actively employed and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. K9s with expired vests are also eligible to participate. There are an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s throughout the United States.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount, while a single donation of $960 will sponsor one vest. Each vest has a value of $1,744-$2,283, weighs an average of 4-5 lb., and comes with a five-year warranty. For more information, or to learn about volunteer opportunities, please call 508-824-6978. I have a question for you... At 8:10 this morning, I got a phone call from Alamagordo NM, the lady on the phone asked if I believe if being a police officer is a dangerous job, to press 1, so I did. Then a man came on and asked if the lady of the house is home, I said "no, can I take a message"; is says "no, no message, thank you for your time"; then he hung up... the question is : is that normal, or could it have been a prank of some sort ?... The number that came up on my caller ID is 575-551-3607...
Thanks so much for all you are doing to help us in our community! You are SO appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scum bag. Trigger happy idiots.
I must say a HUGE thank you to the Alamogordo Police Department and the Officer who saved me from walking to the store to get toilet paper. Yep you are reading this correctly. I have heart problems, breathing and blood pressure issues and my Momma from out of town called the police department and an officer came to the rescue. I didn't get his name but if you read this and it's you thank you so much and blessings to you. You see my husband works out of town and I can't drive due to health so the next best thing was my Momma calling her fellow brothers to help. You see she's a retired Firefighter and Paramedic from Lincoln County. She loves her kiddo so much that she ask if the could help a girl out so I didn't have to walk with my service dog in the rain risking myself and my service dog. Thanks again Momma and officers of Alamogordo Police Department.
Hi- I am just wondering if anyone found a little boy’s PJ Masks Gekko mask that may have been lost there during the Halloween event recently......? The mask looks like this- Thank you!

Beware of traffic signals failing to activate properly. WB 10th @ White Sands left turn failed to signal with 2 cars waiting through the cycle. Apparently moisture was an issue?
9/24/19 Apx. 18:10 I was SB on White Sands waiting for a light change at 1st St. I observed a flashing red light in motion NB on White Sands. As the APD cruiser approached I could barely hear a siren. I heard a horn honking from an unknown vehicle. I though possibly from someone who was upset that traffic was not moving. I then observed a vehicle WB on 1st stop just before he T boned the APD cruiser which was proceeding through a red light after a stop. When I drove code 3, the procedure was to activate the warble on the siren, stop at the intersection to make sure all traffic was stopped before proceeding. The problem was the siren was barely audible to me with windows open and very likely inaudible to the WB vehicle. This could have been a very serious accident! Why don't APD vehicles have a warble??????????
Just know I appreciate all you do in protecting us in Alamogordo New Mexico. You also donated me 2 car seats to me for my granddaughters , because of situations we had care for them . I will never forget what you did for me an my husband . Praying God watch over you an no harm on duty !
