New York's EPIC (Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage) Program helps eligible seniors age 65 and older reduce the cost of prescription drugs and works alongside Medicare Part D coverage.

EPIC may help with:
✔ Lower prescription drug costs
✔ Medicare Part D premium assistance for eligible participants
✔ Reduced out-of-pocket expenses

Last week, I joined the New York State Department of Transportation (DOT), Orange County Legislator Virginia Scott, and Cornwall Town Supervisor Joshua T. Wojehowski for a damage assessment along Route 218 following the recent severe weather and flooding.

Together, we walked the affected areas, reviewed the extent of the damage, and discussed the work needed to safely restore this important roadway.

Thank you to the dedicated DOT engineers and crews for their continued work assessing the damage and planning the necessary repairs. I also appreciate Legislator Scott and Supervisor Wojehowski for their partnership and commitment to advocating for our residents.

I will continue working with our local and state partners to help move our community forward and keep residents informed as repairs progress.

Every day, our Orange County Corrections Officers and Sheriff's Deputies put themselves in challenging situations to protect our communities. They deserve the peace of mind of knowing their families will be protected if the unthinkable happens.

I was proud to stand with Assemblywoman Kay, Senator Skoufis, and fellow elected officials to highlight legislation passed by the New York State Legislature that would allow eligible Orange County Corrections Officers and Sheriff's Deputies who die before retirement to provide their surviving spouse or children with their pension benefits, rather than limiting them to a one-time death benefit.

This protection is already available to many other public employees, including State Corrections Officers. These bills simply ensure that Orange County's dedicated officers and their loved ones receive the same consideration.

The legislation now awaits Governor Kathy Hochul's signature. I hope to see it signed into law so these hardworking public servants and their families receive the security they have earned.

Last month, I had the opportunity to visit the Quassaick Bridge Fire District to see firsthand the new SCBA fill station and equipment that will help keep our firefighters safe and prepared when every second counts.

I'm proud to have secured state funding to make this important investment possible. This new equipment will allow firefighters to quickly and safely refill their self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) tanks, ensuring they have the resources they need to respond to emergencies and protect our communities.

Supporting our first responders isn't just about words, it's about delivering the funding they need to do their jobs safely and effectively.

Thank you to the dedicated members of the Quassaick Bridge Fire District for your service and for the warm welcome. It was an honor to see this project come to life.
