Flag Day marks the anniversary of the first American flag in 1777. I’m proud to wear an American flag pin every day as a small tribute to our country.

For decades, Buffalo has brought the community together with one of the oldest celebrations of Juneteenth in the nation. This year was even more special as I was able to join Majority Leader Crystal D. Peoples-Stokes, NYS Assemblywoman as she led the parade as Grand Marshal. Her dedication to Buffalo and New York State have impacted countless lives and I wish her the best of luck as she prepares to retire.

Wonderful recognition for Athul Santhosh, elected to his local Long Island school board at 18 years old. Great to see him so engaged in civic duty. Having been in this position myself, I know it isn't easy and am excited to see him and others jump in. It’s never too early to start making a difference in our communities. I wish Athul much success in the future.

18-year-old Athul Santhosh was elected to the Herricks Board of Education in May.

It’s June Dairy Month! New York’s dairy farms are big contributors to our state and local economies and the food we enjoy, but farmers are facing real challenges that I highlighted in my recent report. NY must continue to support our farm families, so they are here for generations to come. Thank you for all that you do!

Legislation I supported to help more community and minority-owned banks qualify for state deposits passed the Legislature and now heads to the Governor. Local banking means more access to capital, lending and essential financial services in underserved communities.

Our state pension fund is strong and secure. I was pleased to share that message with Public Employees Federation (Official) retirees today in NYC. NY’s retired public employees remain great advocates for public service and workers rights in the state.

Congrats to Eugene Loparco on his induction into the NYS Senate Veterans Hall of Fame! He retired from the State Comptroller’s office but has long lived a life of public service, including in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and advocating for vets back home. Thank you for your service!

Eugene Loparco, a Vietnam veteran from Colonie, joined the state Senate Veterans Hall of Fame for service and advocacy.

Kicking off Pride Month in Queens, the second biggest Pride Parade in NYS! The multicultural festival is a joyous event celebrating the diverse LGBTQ+ community. We all deserve to be recognized for who we are and treated with respect and kindness. We will not go backwards. Happy Pride!
