The Salvation Army of Herkimer County held its 33rd Annual Civic Dinner, honoring Sylvia Rowan, Lou Christie and Shirley Pederson for their volunteer support. On behalf of the community I was glad to thank them with Assembly Certificates for helping others.

Thank you for your service to the community! It is my honor to serve your members ~

Members met today with Assemblyman Robert Smullen as he stopped by to follow up with his last visit to discuss the 45% membership rule that restricts how many members we can take from outside of our district. He delivered great news today that our exemption has passed and just waiting for one more signature! He also talked with us about the recent increase in tax credit for volunteer firefighters and other issues surrounding the fire service.

Here we go again, another constitutional amendment that changes the fundamentals of our elections in New York State.

And once again, rural communities in Upstate New York are getting the short end of the stick. We’re being dictated to by New York City on when we can hold our elections, while they get to do whatever they choose.

This isn’t fair, and it’s not democratic. Upstate deserves a voice too.

I met with the New York State Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Services for a detailed briefing on the current state of security across New York. Our families and communities deserve to feel safe, and I’m committed to making sure we have the resources in place to protect our people, and determined to get this right.

Upstate New York should not be dictated to by New York City on when we can hold our elections.

A.5036 is fundamentally anti-democratic. We the people of Upstate deserve the right to choose our own election schedule, not be told what to do by one-party rule in Albany.

June 6th is the perfect reminder to get outside and explore the incredible trails we’re blessed with right here in the Mohawk Valley and Adirondacks. I encourage everyone to lace up your boots, hit the trails, and enjoy the natural beauty that makes our region so special!

On June 6, 1944, thousands of brave young Americans and our Allies stormed the beaches of Normandy into hell itself to liberate a continent and crush tyranny.

Their courage turned the tide of World War II and secured the freedoms we still have today. We owe the Greatest Generation everything. I’m proud to honor their sacrifice by never taking liberty for granted and standing strong for the country they saved.

God bless our veterans, and God bless America.
