Today, my office visited the Multi-Agency Resource Center at the Albany School of Humanities to learn more about the coordinated recovery effort underway following the recent historic rainfall and flooding.

The New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services alongside The American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and emergency management partners are helping residents access food, essential goods, temporary shelter, and other critical services, including damage assessment.

Teams have been conducting on-the-ground assessments throughout the week.

The Red Cross shelter and resource center is located at the Albany School of Humanities, 108 Whitehall Road, and is available to residents affected by the flooding. The Multi-Agency Resource Center is open today until 7 p.m. and will move tomorrow to the Village of Coxsackie, 119 Mansion Street, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

I am grateful to every agency, volunteer, and community partner helping Albany residents recover. To support Red Cross disaster relief efforts, visit redcross.org or call 1-800-RED-CROSS. To volunteer, visit redcross.org/volunteer

Today’s City Hall vendor, Graze Praise, brought a beautiful and thoughtfully prepared display to City Hall.

From charcuterie cups and parfaits to sandwiches, cookies, snacks, and gluten-free options, every detail reflected the care behind their business. Thank you to Harneet and Gunish for sharing your creativity with our team and giving residents another great reason to stop by City Hall and support a local entrepreneur.

Our City Hall Vendor Program is about creating space for Albany businesses to connect with new customers, grow their visibility, and bring something special to our community.

We stopped by the Dwayne Killings Basketball Camp at UAlbany’s Broadview Center, where young athletes were building their skills, confidence, teamwork, and love for the game.

Led by Coach Dwayne Killings and members of the UAlbany Men’s Basketball staff and team, the camp gives young people of all skill levels the opportunity to learn directly from Division I coaches and players while having fun in a positive, high-energy environment.

Youth programs like this create opportunities for mentorship, discipline, leadership, friendship, and personal growth. When young people are given safe spaces to learn, compete, and connect with role models, the impact can extend far beyond the court.

Thank you to Coach Killings, his staff, UAlbany Athletics, and everyone helping make this experience possible for young people across Albany and the Capital Region.

One of the greatest joys of serving as Mayor is having the opportunity to recognize the extraordinary people who make Albany such a special place.

Diane Weikert has called Albany home for generations, raising her family here, building a successful career, embracing new adventures, and never losing her curiosity or love of learning. fFrom traveling to all 48 contiguous states to becoming the kind of person who still looks forward to learning something new every day, she continues to inspire everyone around her with her resilience, kindness, and adventurous spirit.

What made this celebration especially meaningful was seeing Diane surrounded by the family who loves her so deeply. The greatest legacy we can leave is found in the lives we touch and the memories we create together.

Happy birthday, Diane. It was an honor to celebrate you and the remarkable life you continue to lead.
