Today, New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and NY State Parks & Historic Sites unveiled a new "America 250" license plate to commemorate the birth of our great nation.

The agencies were joined by Assemblyman Assemblymember John McDonald and representatives from Senator Jake Ashby office.

Hey soccer fans! Got futbol fever? If you’re headed to watch parties and need a safe and sober ride home, we’ve got you covered. Public transit buses and regional light rail trains across Upstate New York will participate in “Safe Rides for Soccer Fans” to get you home safely after watching the games. The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, The Governor's Traffic Safety Committee of New York, NYS Thruway Authority and our Regional Transportation partners are reminding fans to use their heads and get a sober ride home.

New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Acting Commissioner Christian Jackstadt joined the The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, along with the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission Officers (TLC) to announce new multi-pronged measures to protect visitors from around the world from ride hustling. Travelers are often aggressively approached by illegal cab drivers offering rides from the airport. This is a dangerous practice where hustlers may be in under-insured vehicles, not have the proper licenses, and ultimately unfairly compete with legitimate, licensed drivers. Operation Legal Ride, a comprehensive $100 million campaign will combat illegal taxi solicitation at JFK International Airport (JFK), Newark Liberty International Airport - EWR and LaGuardia Airport.

This week, we are at American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators Region 1 Conference to discuss relevant driver’s license, motor vehicle and law enforcement related issues.
Today, we're learning how jurisdictions are integrating new technologies to reduce fraud and support examiners during drive tests, while improving education initiatives designed for high risk drivers.
