ICYMI, there was a partial solar eclipse today, and we even saw it from the NYS DMV Albany office! As always, when rare and unique events like this happen, put your phone down when driving and prepare ahead of time so you don't miss out.

If your vehicle inspection is expired, putting a fake sticker on your windshield is not legal. Nice try, but we check.

On August 6, a Trooper from SP Homer was conducting traffic enforcement on I-81 and confiscated the fake inspection sticker on the left from a 2013 Subaru Legacy.

A quick check of DMV records showed that the Subaru’s inspection actually expired in 2024. The operator’s driver’s license was also revoked. He was ticketed with the misdemeanors of Forged Inspection Certificate and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 2nd degree and the vehicle was impounded.

Check your air bags, they may need to be replaced! ⚠️

Did you know that New York was the first state in the nation to alert motorists to recalls affecting their vehicles at each safety inspection? Our ongoing initiative “Do Not Drive” has prompted more than 10,000 car owners in the past three years alone to have dangerous air bags replaced. We encourage all drivers to check their air bags and take the necessary steps to ensure vehicle safety.

Today, Acting Commissioner Christian Jackstadt joined the DMV team at Lincoln Park Pool for The City of Albany’s Playstreets event! 🤿 Playstreets is a program that creates safe spaces for families and kids to play during the summertime!
