Special Detail - Alna Fire was alerted at 10:10 on Thursday, August 20th to assist the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department by closing part of Head Tide Hill Road and screening local traffic while officers from the LCSO and MSP conducted a special operation near the Whitefield town line. Eight Alna firefighters responded with Trucks 1 and 2 to control the intersection and be prepared if LifeFlight of Maine was needed. The situation was brought to a close with no injuries to civilians, law or fire personnel. We appreciate drivers taking detours and the friends who brought drinks and snacks to our firefighters. Alna crews were on scene for 9 hours.

It doesn't look like much... but Alna Fire assisted the Lincoln County Sheriffs Office with a hazardous traffic situation on the steepest hill of Route 218 on Thursday 8/6. A broken-down box truck was blocking the northbound lane so we had to control / alternate traffic on the southbound side for about 3 hours until a heavy duty wrecker could respond. Standing on the road on a 92 degree day was no fun but thanks to everyone who patiently waited as we handled the scene for safe passage of vehicles through the area.

Alna Fire responded to a number of calls during the Thursday, 7/16 windstorm that knocked out power to hundreds of homes in Lincoln County. Most calls were hazardous conditions from fallen trees. Two of the worst were in the Head Tide area: A tree blocked Head Tide Road just off of Rt 218 and a tree was burning on the power lines on Head Tide Hill Road. We removed most of the Head Tide Road tree and then moved to Head Tide Hill Road where we protected the scene and waited while the tree burned for almost 2 hours. When it burned through and fell off of the lines, we extinguished the burning branches in the road and a woods fire alongside the road.
