These Airmen help installations prepare for everything from natural disasters to man-made hazards. Through planning, training, and real-world response operations, they certify Airmen are informed, equipped, and ready to act when it matters most. From mass-casualty natural disasters to complex, post-attack Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) environments, Emergency Managers help keep installations protected and missions moving forward.

What they do:

☢️ Lead response efforts during hazardous materials incidents and CBRN attacks
🧑‍🔬 Harden the installation community through hazard awareness and protective action guidance
🧪 Conduct training exercises that keep Airmen ready for future emergencies
⚠️ Enable mission assurance by monitoring emerging threats and coordinating response with joint and combined partners
🔬 Detect and track contamination levels while advising leadership on protective measures

✈️Palace Chase: Allows Active Duty Airmen to transfer to the Air National Guard or Air Force Reserve before their Active Duty commitment is complete typically half way through their contract.
✈️ Palace Front: Allows Active Duty Airmen to transition to the Air National Guard or Air Force Reserve when their Active Duty commitment ends.
So if you’re thinking about leaving Active Duty but still want to serve, you have options! 🇺🇸

Retired U.S. Air Force Capt. Bill Robinson, a Vietnam War veteran and the longest-held enlisted prisoner of war in U.S. history, tours a HH-60W Jolly Green II while spending time with members of the 210th Rescue Squadron, 176th Wing, Alaska Air National Guard at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. In 1965, while assigned to the 38th Rescue Squadron as an HH-43B Huskie crew chief, he was shot down during an attempted rescue of a downed F-105 Thunderchief pilot. Over the next seven-and-half years, Robinson would experience interrogation, torture and solitary confinement as a POW in North Vietnam. After spending 2703 days in captivity, Robinson was released during Operation Homecoming on Feb. 12, 1973. During his internment, he received a direct commission and continued to serve in the USAF for another 11 years. Since his retirement, Robinson has worked with other POWs to share the message of resiliency, service and sacrifice.
